IF our gov't had stated the purpose of the Iraq War/Invasion
was to keep the oil trade in dollars instead of euros - and that without invading/preventing this from happening our economy would have collapsed - would more or less Americans have supported it?

Would you have been more likely to support the invasion than you do now?

There is talk that Iran is considering converting to euros around the end of March. What, if anything should our government do about that?

For how long can our gov't expect to keep the world trading in dollars by force?

I'm no economist. I'm just wondering what people around here think.

2. PNAC lays it out
They needed an excuse to go to Iraq.

They needed a "New Pearl Harbor."

Magically, they got that on 9/11.

Then the only problem was selling the plan (particularly since Iraq wasn't involved).

The movement away from petrodollars would have registered as a war for oil in most people's mind. And we are simply not desperate enough yet to go to war over oil.

3. Are things really that much better now?
Thousands are dead, our reputation in the global community is ruined, and we are effectively owned by China, the last, biggest relic of communism to reach the 21st century. If you aren't one of the richest 2% of Americans, you've only been hurt by this war. So has your family for generations to come.

They are traitors to this country, its people and the world, and they will be held responsible.

5. It's rather difficult to believe
that would happen - since they would be so easy for someone to bomb right back.

I guess we'll see.

It certainly seems to be no accident that we are hearing anti-Israel sentiments coming from Iran.

I was thinking that there are probably such sentiments on a regular basis - they just happen to be all over the news now?
