Quite honestly, we're at the point where decisions have to be taken.
The Democrats have spent the last 13 years crusing along on autopilot,
trying very hard not to make any policies or take any actual decisions,
for fear of alienating someone, anyone, somewhere, anywhere. Meanwhile,
there's a mountaintop directly ahead of us; if left on autopilot, the
party's about to crash and burn.

There are two possible outcomes:

o We continue on autopilot. Nobody makes any tough decisions (about
political policy) and the party crashes and burns on that mountaintop
and, politically, we all die, or

o Somebody starts making some tough decisions, the party starts enforcing
them, and (in the process) pisses-off a lot of people on either the left
or the DLC-center-right.

Either way, it will get nastier. And DU is just a reflection of that.

But we can't stay on autopilot forever.
