2. I think that was another request to the COURT, not the Ah-Nuld clemency
appeal. See this article: http://www.montereyherald.com/mld/montereyherald/news/13386192.htm

SAN FRANCISCO - Crips co-founder Stanley Tookie Williams lost another bid before the California Supreme Court when the justices unanimously ruled late Sunday not to reopen his case and block his Tuesday execution by lethal injection.

The high court ruled 6-0, and said the last-minute appeal lacked merit and was untimely as well, meaning Williams will be executed unless Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger grants clemency or an anticipated last-ditch federal appeal is successful. California's justice days ago also turned down a similar appeal from Williams, who is scheduled to be the 12th condemned inmate executed since state lawmakers reinstated the death penalty in 1977 after a brief hiatus.

...As the last-minute legal maneuvering continued, defense lawyers awaited Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's decision Monday on whether he would grant Williams clemency. They have asked the governor to spare the condemned man's life with the claim that Williams, who has written several children's books extolling the evils of gang life, has redeemed himself during 24 years at San Quentin State Prison.

3. Not surprised.
He should've ran to the fundies. Then again he's black so they probably wouldn't have helped.

Justices decline to block Williams execution
By DAVID KRAVETS, AP Legal Affairs Writer

Sunday, December 11, 2005

(12-11) 20:26 PST San Francisco (AP) --

Crips co-founder Stanley Tookie Williams lost another bid before the California Supreme Court when the justices unanimously ruled late Sunday not to reopen his case and block his Tuesday execution by lethal injection.

State prosecutors implored the justices early Sunday to dismiss Williams' latest petition to block his Tuesday execution for murdering four people in 1979.

5. But he said the CA SUPREME COURT had denied clemency
and not the governor. I rewound it twice to make sure I was hearing the right thing.

9. His basis for the claim was the "I didn't do it" defense
From the link I posted above:

The petition, by Pasadena attorney Verna Wefald, also challenged the validity of all four of Williams' capital murder convictions. The justices days ago denied a request by Wefald to reopen the case based on allegations that shoddy forensics linked a weapon used in three of the murders to a shotgun registered to Williams.

10. I KNEW it!!!!!!!!
A rightwing republican loves killing, especially a black man.....unless it's a fetus. Dammit.....I was hoping for clemency.Racist repuke bastards. Boy,they want to get rid of every black they can, don't they? Look at New Orleans for an example. The repukes will do everything in their power to keep NO as white as they can. God,where is the NAACP? This is outrageous. :grr:

12. I did read it.....after I had already posted my rant.....LOL
Anyway,I hate to say it but I'll bet he won't get clemency. I just don't trust any repuke with making the right (correct) decisions. When it comes to blacks, they just don't care. It makes me sick.

15. It is sad.
I can't tell you how much I hate the injustice that's done against blacks. Repukes are against everything that could benefit black people. You know what I'm talking about. That's why they are trying so hard to dismantle all the programs that help so many people. The poor whites and poor blacks are doomed as long as a repuke is in power. We need an uprising and I'll be there right in the middle of it if it ever happens! :hi:

17. All we can do is hope for the best.
I don't trust a repuke to make any kind of a decision....especially when it comes to the death penalty.

18. I know. But the Grope isn't really a politician. And, he can't
stand to lose. Maybe he'll do this one.

20. I hope so.
I think Tookie could do a lot more good if given the chance.

I could never understand the logic in the death penalty. Isn't that a double standard? It's alright for them to kill by lethal injection but its wrong for anyone else to kill. What kind of message is THAT? Gaawd,it blows my mind.Killing is killing no matter WHO does it.
