2. I honestly wouldn't have a problem if they did!
I'd think it would be in the best interest of a company, particularly a large one like Target or Walmart, to adopt a policy of using neutral greetings. I should think using one that is religion-specific might offend your customers who aren't of that faith. On the other hand, any policy regarding this either way would be idiotic micromanaging. Why not just let your employees use their own judgment with each customer? :shrug: I know that doesn't help with what you are writing.

Of course, I'm not everybody. But if somebody wished me Happy Hannukah or Happy Kwanza, I wouldn't be offended. Tolerance isn't shoving everybody's differences under a rug, it's welcoming and embracing all of it and you can't do that if nobody ever talks about it. I understand using holidays for mass targeting, but it would be terribly sad to see no mention of anybody's cultural or religious festivities. After all, Mardi Gras is directly connected to Ash Wednesday, is that offensive?
