A third of people hide debt from their partners
More than a third of people struggling with debt are hiding their problems from their partner, research showed today.

Around 36 per cent of people who contacted debt charity the Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) for help admitted they had not told their partner they were struggling with their borrowings.

Women are more likely than men to keep their debt problems secret, with 40 per cent hiding the issue from their partner, compared with 34 per cent of men.

Women aged over 60 were particularly likely to be secretive, with nearly 45 per cent not being forthcoming about their problems, while women who were cohabiting were more likely to be secretive than those who were married.

1. Modern life is so cool.
" I really want to be close to him, I really do. But if he finds out about the collectors he may not love me. I need to hide, don't let him know I am one of the morally inferior poor...."

3. Always tell potential partners your issues upfront...
if they stay, you probably have a winner, even though you probably still don't...

if they leave, you lose nothing.

5. None of her business.
Not her money, I'm not begging her for money, and her name's not on anything.

I already have a voice in my head screaming at me how big a fucking failure I am, I sure as shit don't need a duet.
