Since when are Green Party Candidates a Taboo Subject on DU?
Edited on Sun Dec-11-05 10:03 PM by KoKo01
Du'ers donated to pay for Recounts for elections in Ohio to Greens...Lots of DU'ers aren't Greens but support their causes. Heck I'm a Democratic Party Precinct Delegate and if there is a Green to will go up against a Zell Miller Dem then why shouldn't we support them?

 What's going on here? Do we Progressive Dems no longer belong here? Shouldn't Progressive Dems have the same rights as Lieberman/Hillary/Biden Dems? Aren't we supposed to be INCLUSIVE????

1. I'd rather push for a true dem to go up against a DINO
I started saying this in 2002 when I came here, GreenUnderground.com is available. If someone wants to promote Green candidates, start a website. This one is for promoting Dems. If they're a shit dem, then we need a real dem to replace them, not a green.

DUers donated to the Ohio greens to benefit dems.

3. Aren't Greens just people who got fed up with the centrists
pulling us to the right with their agenda? I could be a Green but it doesn't solve our two party system. Maybe I should get involved.

4. I suspect many people are afraid of the dilution of the Dem vote.
You remember how we fought against Nader, and how upset the Pubs were about Ross Perot. They still blame him for the Bush 1 loss to Clinton.

5. News flash.
Politicking for Green party candidates if they're running against Democrats has been against our rules since October of 2002. From the rules:

Democratic Underground is an online community for Democrats and other progressives. Members are expected to be generally supportive of progressive ideals, and to support Democratic candidates for political office.

And:

You are not permitted to use this message board to work for the defeat of the Democratic Party nominee for any political office. If you wish to work for the defeat of any Democratic candidate in any General Election, then you are welcome to use someone else's bandwidth on some other website.

Democratic Underground may not be used for political, partisan, or advocacy activity by supporters of any political party or candidate other than the Democratic Party or Democratic candidates. Supporters of certain other political parties may use Democratic Underground for limited partisan activities in political races where there is no Democratic Party candidate.

I'm locking this thread.
