A new milestone in Iraq. 2000 dead since "Mission Accomplished".
I just notice while perusing http://icasualties.org/oif/ that the number of US military fatalities has reached 2144 since the start of the war. On the day Bu$h declared "Mission Accomplished", 140 US soldiers had died. Since the "end of major hostilities, there have been 2004 more.

I know it's not as dramatic of a milestone as when the overall deaths hit 2000, but it seems significant nevertheless. What other situations have we had where the number of war dead was so dwarfed by the number of "post-war" dead? How much longer is this going to go on for?

1. Just giving this a kick.
Am I the only one who cares about this? I guess maybe everyone else is too preoccupied with worrying about what other people are eating, or about the "war on Christmas".

2. That is an amazing way to put it.
More than 2000 have died since the ending of major combat operations and the infamous Mission Accomplished banner.

What are the chances that a nationally elected politician will mention this? It is important.

I care Crunchy, more than you will ever know! :pals:

6. It looks like there's been 707 US fatalities
since the Iraq elections last January. All these supposed milestones just sort of run together for me, since the deaths keep coming whatever milestone gets passed.
