Police Hit Great-Grandmother, 68, Five Times With Taser Gun
Edited on Sun Dec-11-05 03:55 AM by Bluebear

Franklin, OH - Police in Columbus, Ohio hit a 68-year-old grandmother with a Taser gun five times for trying to leave the police station.

Beverly Kidwell, 68, was arrested for hitting her granddaughter. She was in the waiting room of the station when the incident occurred, police said.

Kidwell said she had been waiting for a long time and got up to leave. She was then hit with the Taser.

"I don't know if he thought I was going to get up and leave or what, but he pulled his gun. I thought it was a gun. I'd never seen a Taser gun in my life and I thought, 'Oh my God. He's going to shoot me. He's going to kill me," Kidwell said.

The police lieutenant in the case said he is the victim, reports WCMH. He adds that she was resisting arrest.

6. Already A Cop Has Tasered His Partner
HAMTRAMCK, Mich. Dec 8, 2005 — An argument between two police officers over whether they should stop for a soft drink ended with the male officer using a Taser stun gun on his female partner, authorities say. A Taser delivers an electrical shock to immobilize its target.

...

According to a police report, Dupuis and partner Prema Graham began arguing after Dupuis demanded she stop their car at a store so he could buy a soft drink. Graham instead drove back toward the police station.

The two then struggled over the steering wheel, and Dupuis used his department-issued Taser to hit Graham in the leg, the report said. She was not seriously hurt.

1: Was she black?

2: If she was, is anyone surprised? If she wasn't, how fast before the whitewash starts?

I hate cops! All cops! "She was resisting arrest." Oh, so that excuses the cops for shocking her as many times as he did!

What happened to my country???

22. We're been hearing alot about power-crazy cops lately.
I don't know if cops are getting "mean" or not, but I think the Patriot Act really emboldened some of the officers with a taste for power.

5. Man...you can never underestimate
those grandmas, i'm surprised that cop only tasered her 5 times, i'm sure the cops manual says "for grandmas, 6-8 taser shots are allowed." I think these cops were being merficul only tagging her 5 times...

Yes, i'm being sarcastic, and probaby failing to be humourus. This is god damn shameful...its a good thing she wasn't bipolar, otherwise she would have been shot...

17. The Taser defenders will be along any moment
to explain how Tasers save lives, and we can't know what really went down, and maybe she really was a threat.

I think of the Brazilian thug who shot a 73-year-old nun "in self defense" because she had a bible.

Does this mean a healthy police officer could not detain a 68 YO woman inside the police station without using such force?

This is just one more crack appearing... Pretty soon all of America is going to sink.

This is sick and very disturbing. That big beefy man couldn't get a handle on a 68 year old great-grandmother without using his Taser gun?

GMAFB!

32. Btw, do you know anything about electric bicycles?
My car was messed up in New Orleans and I can't, nor do I want, to buy another gas powered car. My commute to school is too difficult and long on a regular bike, and will be way too dangerous at night.

I found this website:
http://www.electric-bikes.com/bikes.htm

So far I like the "Charger" the best:
http://www.electric-bikes.com/others.htm#Charger%20Bicycles

What do you think? Mind you, I haven't very much money and may end up buying a cheap, used baloon-tire bike. I can't ride my Trek and Nishiki road bikes any longer because of back problems. :(

And drop Longhorn a line. She has an electric-assist bike and spoke highly of it for her 15 mile commute.

33. My sympathy is with the poor, poor policeman.

People are so PREJUDICED against policeman.

But, hey. I guess it's just part of the job. They arrest people. They write citations. Kinda goes with it, a few attitude problems from your average citizen. I just wish they could see that it's ALL FOR YOUR OWN GOOD.

POLICEMAN ARE HUMANS TOO. Yes. Just like you and me. In more ways than you know.

POOR, POOR COPS. Why oh why does nobody ever have sympathy for the poor, poor policeman? Will anyone ever know? How could it be that ordinary people all over the world just won't trust a policeman? Sigh.

I guess it must just be prejudice. Poor old victimised policemen, eh, everybody? Aw. Really they're just like big cuddly teddy bears.
