Oh, he cannot win here (W),
His choices only go from bad to worse.

Stay the course equals linnear dissaproval ratings for him. Withdrawal equals defeat on his own terms. And more importantly, his republican congress is tied to his course as long as they go along with his "plan" (and I mean lack thereof) in Iraq.

Even Karl f-ing Rove can't fix this one.

In a month, Christmas is over and reelection is on.

We keep the pressure on, and he takes the republican party with him for the next generation or two.

In any terms - this guy is screwed.

Joe

2. They are frantically trying to play it down, but the "housing bubble"
has probably burst. They are in full denial mode right now, which leads me to believe it's going to be bad.

4. I read just this week,
(sorry, don't recall where) that many people in hot housing markets are selling their houses now for top dollar & moving to areas where houses are not so expensive -- making their dollar go further & getting smaller mortgages to boot. I worry many people who are buying new/big houses now, especially if they are using creative financing to do so, will get burned.

But then, it's their own fault that they listen to the corporate media tell them the economy is doing fine & rebounding.

5. Yeah, it is their own fault. But they got suckered.
It is amazing to me - how many people really belived that their 1% mortgages were worth spit.

Pensions started buying about two years ago - they have never been right yet.

It is amazing what crap some people are willing to believe, though.

Good for you!!

3. You guys are pretty smart.
Yeah, I think it burst.

When I was an undergrad student, many years ago, I had a polisci teacher that impacted me alot. She had an analogy, true then and true now, I think.

America is an eagle, the far left wing being the most liberal and the far right wing being most conservative. The eagle in flight has the wing tips cross as a matter of flight.

She said watch when the wingtips cross - because that is the moment of ultimate truth.

They crossed.

6. Bush has really made some ba--GAY MARRIAGE! GAY MARRIAGE! GAY MARRIAGE!
I'm sorry, what were you saying?

(Sadly the "GAY MARRIAGE!" shrillity still has some steam left in it. The Republicans are far from dead, folks)
