"We wish you a happy Honda-days" controversy on local radio
On the way to work this morning, the local radio people were talking about a Honda commercial that featured carolers singing, "We wish you a Happy Holiday" instead of "We wish you a Merry Christmas" and of course they were trying to incorporate it in their "war on Christmas" nonsense. I was inclined to agree actually because that's just going out of your way to be stupid! Then a caller called in a said they were actually saying "Honda-days" and not "Holidays", and so then it made perfect sense to me. The local radio guys wouldn't back down however, and declared it was still just as bad and Honda is trying to take away Christmas. If they would stop and think instead of just shouting their talking points, they would realize that "Happy Honda-mas" makes no f*cking sense and "Honda-Days" is, in fact, the only way to do that commercial. Thank you for indulging my insane rant :)

12. It was actually Laser 103 bob and brian morning show
I stopped listening to them once they started being a Right Wing morning show.

Why would a morning show want to get rid of half their audience? oh well..

Awww, let 'em go. I love it when this crap makes the fundies turn...
...on the corporatists. Hell, the one thing I like about the phony war on Christmas is the fact that I learn which stores are exploiting Christmas specifically and which are exploiting the holidays in general for a quick buck.

11. They have the same problem with this as with politicians
Anything that talks about God and Christmas is good and anything that talks about living wages and inclusion is immoral Communist lies. They'd embrace "Communist China Prison Labor Corp" If they said "Merry Christmas" and piss all over Costco if they said "Happy Holidays" They have no idea who is trying to exploit Christmas nor do they care, they just want to know who will give lip service to their idea of Christianity.

it's disgusting. To use the Christmas holiday as an excuse to sow division and hatred is just profane.

16. funny how they like the idea
that liberals are taking away Christmas and they have to fight to keep it. They love to pick fights with people who are not fighting them and have no plans to fight them.

8. What is semi-offensive to me is that it promotes consumerism but then
that is the point of being a business, to sell a product. And I do admit it's a clever way of doing it. And not nearly as annoying as the stupid commericals of yuppies giving each other cars as presents. As if! x(

9. oh my gawd
The local car dealer is trying to drum up some sales on a miserable month (not many car sales in December) by using a slogan about Honday Days and gets persecuted?

If they want to critisize make it real--complain that they are twisting a season of forgiveness and giving in order to make a buck. Then challange the listeners NOT TO BUY this season from any reatiler supporting any kind of Christmas or holiday sales because it encourges corpritization of the holiday.

Instead of getting that last minute sale on Christmas Eve, tell these guys to head to their church and pray about loving thy neighbor and forgiving sins as jesus did for us.

I'd love to see these Christmas is at war folks talk down their lights, trees, wreaths, presents and think about the man who died somewhere near this holiday and his message of NOT KILLING OTHERS!

...or so the legend says. Good Friday is the day Jesus died, and Easter Sunday is when he rose again.:hi:

You probably knew that and just typoed anyhow.

14. And if they would think a little more
They would realize that Honda is a Japanese company, and since 99 percent of Japanese are not Christians, they could give a fuck-all about American fundy Christmas wars:evilgrin:

15. There's nothing insane about your rant ...
The insanity lies with people who, at this juncture of our history as a nation, think this kind of crapola is of any importance whatsoever.

As for the so-called 'Christians' who are involved in this nonsense, you'll notice that NOT A SINGLE 'CHRISTIAN' GROUP has uttered a word about stores, marketing groups, or TV and radio ad makers turning what is supposed to be a Christian holy day into a mindless shop-fest that serves no other purpose than encouraging people to spend money they don't have on uselss items no one needs.

In other words, it is perfectly acceptable to even further line the pockets of Big Businesses who don't pay their fair share of taxes, engage in unfair work practices, employ illegal immigrants at less-than-a-living-wage, and promote products that are now made in China as opposed to being made here at home -- as long as they use the word "Christmas' in their advertizing.

Happy Birthday, Baby Jesus. I hope you're appreciative of what your so-called followers are doing in your name.

18. That's the republican strategy
Make the fight about some inane detail that doesn't make a rat's butt worth of difference to anyone's actual well-being but sounds good as a one-liner. Be indignant and yell alot - cry if need be.

Around this time. Never a problem until now. Well with these particular radio goons, that is.
