Bush had trouble filling the room:desperate plea for human props
Washington Ignores Bush’s Evite
The Washington Post reports that, at yesterday’s speech for the Council on Foreign Relations, President Bush had trouble filling the room:

Only a few hundred members showed up for the hastily organized event at a Washington hotel and empty chairs were removed from the back of the ballroom before Bush arrived.

It wasn’t for lack of effort. We were forwarded this desperate plea the Council sent out late Tuesday, asking people who were planning on coming to bring a friend:

Bush broke Council traditional by refusing to accept questions after his speech. Apparently, most people aren’t that excited about being used as a presidential prop. This may explain why Bush has preferred giving his speeches in front of military audiences, who are required to attend.

1. Notice that they had to provide their guest's name and AFFILIATION
prior to being confirmed! Guess there were no Dems at that one either.

13. Even if they did, they went UP to 40 percent. That's HORRIBLE for any
president. Clinton had 70 percent right after his impeachment!

3. That's kind of sad
But I guess I wouldn't want to be used as a prop either. I'd hold out for a speaking role.

4. Some people did boycott because of lack of questions
NPR yesterday said some members did boycott the speech because the White House refused to allow any questions or discussions. They were just expected to politely applaud. Normally, there is always intense questioning and discussions at these events.

15. What if ** gave a speech and nobody cared?
I mean, really, who expects there to be ANYTHING noteworthy in chimpspeak? Bush can't talk about anything important because he doesn't have a clue what's important.

16. Why doesn't he just talk to Pickles for a bedside chat

We could listen and laugh.

That way, he could have the two doggies dressed in their PJ's and they could not talk back.

Shameful that a President can't talk to real people.
