Republican (No)Plan Allowed Iraq to Descend Into The Chaos It Is Today.
Edited on Thu Dec-08-05 08:48 AM by The Whiskey Priest
Putting aside the fact that the misadventure in Iraq was from the start a gigantic foreign policy blunder, illegal and a project of falsehoods; the unalterable reality is that the Republican pursued this costly war without coherent plan. The truth of that cannot be altered by offering some “potemkin village” assurance that there is, or was a plan.

There are two facts that glaringly highlight the absence from the beginning that the Republicans were playing this deadly game of power. Consider if you will the facts that they went into this war without the troops to stabilize Iraq after the war. This allowed the whole of Iraq to become a place of lawlessness and chaos. The immediate aftermath of the war was looting, kidnapping and revenge murder. The country rapidly reverted back to tribalism from which Republicans are now trying to fashion some form of government through sham elections.

Another important fact is that the Republicans sent American troops into Iraq without the means for communication. There was and is even now a woeful absence of people who can either speak with or understand the Iraqi people. It was like sending an army of speech and hearing impaired into a situation where it was absolutely required that we talk with and understand what is being said to us.

There are many more missteps that the Republicans made in this debacle; but to me these two examples of incompetence are so large as to stand for a damning indictment of stupidity.

1. WHAT PLAN?
I don't think bombing the bejeezus out of them, then coming in from the north represents much of a plan at all.

2. Something like their 'plan' for post-Katrina NOLA.
They prepared for riots and raw horrors not rescues, repairs and renovations. They prepared to find ways for their corporate cronies to get huge contracts, from Barbour to Halliburton. It's just that in Iraq, they get to rebuild the same buildings, pipelines and other infrastructure elements over and over and over and...

3. I have wonder the same
I have no military experience but not know that communication would be extremely important to this mission is ridiculous. I believe that communcation is still a huge problem.

4. Those damn Iraqis need to speak English....
It's up to them to understand us. We're Americans after all.
