Freeper Racism on Display on My Blog

So last night on my blog, I posted about the special House panel hearing yesterday, that featured African-American survivors of Hurricane Katrina.

And a racist freeper responded:

"Move and get a job! Provide for yourselves..."


It's absolutely amazing. I responded that my first instict was to delete this racist freeper's post. Then I decided to leave it there, as as example of the kind of racism in our country today.

Have you ever heard of the term "the working poor." Meaning, those individuals who are working (in some cases 2 or 3 jobs) and to no fault of their own, they still can't make it above the poverty line.

Moreover, the Bible tells us that we will be judged by how we do unto the least among us.

There are many working poor in our country. People trying to raise kids, and working 2 or 3 jobs. And they still can't make it above the poverty line. Something is wrong in this country, when that happens?

And are we going to start blaming people for their lott in life?

'You're poor. It's your fault.' It seems to me, that is the message many freepers are giving. They are blaming poor African-Americans for their lott in life.

because they are black? They were unprepared. They should have lived in houses ten feet up on stilts with rafts in the attic. They should have known better. They indicated he subscribes to the "black people are lazy; they don't work" mantra that is often repeated by racists.

He said "get a job."

He thinks those people who were too poor to leave, did not work. And that's just devoid of any reality.

Which is why I brought up the issue of the working poor.

He's making the false assumption that racism doesn't exist thus plays no role in why so many Blacks in NOLA (and 24% nationwide) live in poverty.

As another DUer was discussing earlier tonight, "reject the premise." The freeper's premise is a false assumption.

its a freeper world and freepers are stupid. I wrote in a forum about how its not unions causing job loss, its imports of goods and the export of factories causing a lot of it. Next thing I knew some freeper writes in with toyota makes cars in america. I replyed back, no americans are assemblying toyotas using imprted parts made in japan by japan labor and factories. She then wrote well at least japan sent aid to NO. which she then stated and thats a good thing wouldn't you agree. I stated, no I don't agree that the richest country in the world should take aid because theres always strings attached to them giving that aid. The freeper then worte, america is not the richest country in the world. freeper logic at its best.

12. Racism, IMHO, is what brought us GWB.

It will also be the reason we have these neo-cons always in the wings waiting to come into power when they aren't at the time. This is what they do. They appeal to the bigotry in everyone to get their votes.

They will promise them vanilla ice cream in their vanilla neighborhoods and jobs. They of course don't keep their promises as they lie their way through it.

If we don't crush bigotry in our society, we are doomed to more of this forever.
