I'm referring to this:

Where does the verifiable paper receipt GO, exactly?
In the ballot box? You turn it in before you leave the polling location?
You take it home with you?

1. First
It is a Voter Verified Paper Ballot. A VVPB

If you are using a DRE -a Direct Recording Electronic machine, you will be presented with a paper copy of your choices made on the DRE. That paper record of your vote will be kept by the election officials. It would be used in a recount, but used especially for an audit of the machines tabulations.

A scanned ballot by its very nature is a VVPB.

No ballots leave the control of the election officials, unless there is no paper record, such as on a DRE. A vote on a DRE is useless, as the machine may be programmed wrong, or made to add up the votes any which way the programmmer wants.

It is incumbent that we have, at the very least, paper records of your choices.

2. My concern was that people would be leaving...
polling locations with a "receipt" that said "I voted Republican" or "I voted Democrat" on it, which would allow for all manner of fraud:
vote purchasing, pressure from spouses, peers, parents employers to vote a certain way and provide a receipt to prove it, etc. Ya know? -JJ
