14. one trouble is that you often can hear

the same thing from the left. Just replace the word "moonbat" with "Freeper" and you could almost have the same rant word for word on DU with a dozen, or even a couple score of, posters chiming in with "great rant!"

And can often see a whine like mine there posted followed by a "DU love it or leave it" response or two.

Not that it is the only thing here, but it happens too often. I suppose a certain amount of that is inevitable, human nature and the sociology of groups being what they are.

Also, part of the cartoon does not reflect well on Sparky. His only response is silence and walking away. How about saying "Listen to yourself. Is ad hominem all you have? Can you defend Bush without attacking his detractors?"

you CANNOT...and I think that's what Sparky was saying or not saying as the case may be. They are like Jehovah's Witnesses. And in both cases, sometimes it makes the most sense to just end the "dialogue".

Republican shills? The pundits will not talk with mere mortals like me. The barbs I throw at them in my mere LTTE's do not impact them one whit. Thomas (What's the Matter with Kansas) Frank was not aware of my column, about his book, in the KC Star until I gave him a copy at a book signing.

There are all kinds of people who cannot be reasoned with, maybe even most people, especially when arguments get heated about politics or religion. I have known only one Jehovah's Witness and he was not that unreasonable. He went to prison for opposing WWII, so I respect that conviction, and I even beat him in an argument once (not that he admitted it). Like Al Franken trying to explain his joke to Newt Gingrich, I prefer to keep trying to reason with everyone.

Can't you see the other side saying the same thing about moonbats. "Can you reason with a moonbat? Honestly? Won't they end up calling you a Nazi, a misogynist, or a homophobe instead of responding with a factual, reasoned argument?"

This was written by a "DUer" who was TSed shortly afterwards:
