Why I would vote for Hillary.
She is not my first, second or third choice, but if she becomes the Democrats nominee, I'll cast my vote for her.
The reasons I would vote for her are twofold.
First, the Republicans have to go. We cannot take anymore of having any Republican in charge.
Second, we have a whole heap of serious troubles to deal with here in America, both domestic and international. This is not a good time to have a President who needs on-the-job training.
Getting the Human Rights issues straightened out needs someone with a lot of clout. Dealing with Iraq and the deficit are monumental problems that cannot wait longer.
Hillary can set up a powerful cabinet, make International connections, and arm-twist the Congress from the moment she walks in the door of the White House. I do not see where anyone else has her kind of experience and connections.

My hope is that the people of the Democratic party stand together and support a more Progressive/Liberal/Socialist candidate but, given the gravity of the situation we are in, my preferred candidate might be an option America can not afford.

2. I Agree and Plan the Same
The GOP has got to go at all costs, but we really do need a candidate we can all rally behind.

5. Hillary has my vote enthusiastically
Edited on Wed Dec-07-05 12:59 PM by quinnox
She is the only potential 2008 candidate I can see contributing money to at this point.
It would be wonderful to have a Hillary Clinton as president, a sea change from the last 8 years.

If she runs that is, still think it is a 50/50 chance.

6. Nice, but how many Hill Clinton threads do we need per day?
That said, if she's the nominee, of course, she'll have my full support. No way in the primaries though!

That's my biggest reservation about her.

9. oh, I'll vote for her if she's the Democratic nominee . . . but . . .
if she IS the Democratic nominee, we're gonna lose . . . big . . .

then again, we're probably going to lose anyhow, given that Republican corporations will still be tabulating the votes . . .

11. Why I won't vote for Hillary or any of the other VichyDems.
They voted for an immoral, unjustified, and illegal invasion of a sovereign state that resulted in the deaths of 10s of thousands of people. And, they did so to further their political ambitions. They have blood on their hands.

May they all find the political obscurity they so richly deserve.

18. I only vote democratic.
In 35 years, not once, never, nada have I voted any other way.

I see candidacy issues for the dems as an "in family" topic. We each have our fav, but at the end of the day, I'll take a yellow dog over a repug. Its worth our time for dialogue, to allow candidates to develop positions and not be one candidate obsessed, until such time as a candidate has been selected.

19. Do we need any other reason than that she's not quite...
...the corporatist whore that any Republican candidate would be?

I'd like to vote for a real progressive, but Big Money won't allow that as a viable option. I'll content myself with voting out as many GOPers as I can.

21. I will vote for her because...
she is preferable to any Republican candidate regardless.

I support her particularly because she is the most polarizing of all Democrats named to the right wing world who speak of her with true hatred and oppose her more than any other candidate. I truly believe that behavior reflects a real FEAR that not only might she win an election but that she might be the candidate who stands a chance of reducing their influence on this nation.

Think about her past experience with Republican right-wing lies. The attempted "swift-boating" of Hillary Clinton or Diebold election fraud? I firmly believe they fear her because she will do what the "gentlemen" of the Democratic party have not done - that is, to fight them.

22. If she runs, she'll have my support
It's funny to have watched the GOP call her an "extreme left" not too long ago. The 'will she run? is she running? she's in it!' parroted by the media has put a frenzy into politics that began the day after the 2004 election was called. Now, I see Democrats parroting that she's "moving to the middle". Huh???

I can't say I agree 100% with Hillary on all issues, but even those I can't say I am in 100% disagreement with her. Yesterday, I saw someone here had posted her voting record is 65% progressive. I don't think it's changed from a 90, 80 or 70% progressive to that number over time. She's been the same all along. That's what most people fail to remember, though. They allow the GOP noise machine to filter in saying she's "moving to the middle". :eyes:

But I will be voting FOR Hillary for reasons beyond where she stands on issues. She's smart, she knows how to build consensus, she can make a decision and be strong about it without being closed minded, and she's got an eye on the future for our children.

Not to mention her experience throughout her life of public service. Can anyone give me a single potential nominee who has met world leaders at the level she has? Or who has a fly-on-the-wall observation of inside operations of the White House? Add a Governor's level to that as well! Then, add Senate how-tos. Anyone? She has the experience from all sides when it comes to government all the way from the state up to federal levels.
