If the thugs steal the '06 election, would you leave the country?
Although it can't be proved "beyond a reasonable doubt" in a court of law, there is overwhelming circumstantial evidence that they stole the last three elections.

If they can steal the next one, what's to stop them from doing it in '08 and beyond.

If this were to happen, fighting them in the streets would be both futile and suicide. They own the army and the police.

For a variety of reasons, many are not in a position to pick up and move elsewhere. But if you could, would you?

19. I can't afford to leave, either.
I had this nice pipe dream going for awhile, then realized I can't even afford to move to a more progressive area. Oh well.

13. I'm in the same boat
My husband is Dutch and we lived in Holland before moving here (1 month prior to 9/11). He has a great career here and he can advance here much more quickly than he could in Holland. Being the competitive guy he is, he is perfectly happy to stay put.

10. I'm staying.
Everyday more people are getting fed up with the course this country's on. They may be able to put themselves back into office by stealing another election but as long as they stay the course, not just in the war but in general, the mood in this country will continue to get darker and more surly. If this finally results in a civil uprising where the people march on Washington and remove the GOP squatters from the places of power I want to be there.

14. We seriously considered
leaving after the 04 election, but still had a kid in high school. Now he's a freshman in college, and we have an older son who still has about three years to go before he finishes.

We are also at that awkward age, but are looking at various options. The problem with moving to Canada is that it's very easy to talk about, but not necessarily easy to do. Meanwhile, hubby has visited Costa Rica and Vancouver in the last year, and we may well move no matter what happens in 06, or even 08.

I do hope that the limited victories last month are a true harbinger of what's to come, but I have my doubts.

because we all are too weak to demand paper and pen ballots, hand counted with an audience.

voting will be a waste of time

18. I had thought about leaving
back in 2004 after the election but logistics weren't right.

Since then, I've looked into it, read a lot with moving in mind, and come to the conclusion that the neocons are everywhere or at least trying to be. They want to take over the world, it's pretty clear. Canada was one possibility but now I read that they are making inroads in Canada as well. So if I move up there I may end up in the same boat, only I'll be freezing my buns off?! :wtf: This realization made me more and more angry until I have decided that I'm not going to spend my life running from them. My husband wasn't crazy about the idea of leaving anyway. We'll stay and join up with the more and more citizens that are getting fed up. We'll continue to work to try and change things. Election reform is right at the top of the list.

If we don't fight them, who will? They are like a disease and will spread if they aren't stopped. That means they'll spread to whatever little corner of the world you escape to, eventually.

20. Fuck no. I'm too stubborn and stupid to give up my country.
I'm not handing it over to these fucking thieves and traitors, even if I'm nothing more than a minor irritation to them.

21. If we leave, how will America ever recover?
America was founded as a democracy. If they don't want that, then they should go someplace else, not us. If we leave, how can we ever get the country back? Whether it's '08, '10, '12, it won't happen if the fighters all leave. I considered it after '04 and decided that I love this country too much to give it up to them.

22. Wife and I
My wife and I bought a place in Shanghai. We have a contingency plan though neither of us are sure if going there would be "out of the pan into another pan". If you know what I mean...

I've worked my ass off for years and have a terrific job here. Life is good for us -- but that's not what this is really about, is it? Frankly, I'm conflicted about the whole matter. So, I'm interested to hear from others here about your thinking on these issues.

23. The problem is they are ruining this country, but they also
extend their influence elsewhere and it isn't any safer there. Too bad there is no new country starting with the hope this one once had.

24. I'd consider going to Venezuela
Where they have a REAL progressive government. I'd be more than willing to learn some Spanish. I wonder if one could seek political asylum there? One more plus with Venezuela, it wouldn't be below zero this time of year!
