1. Please don't think that I'm accusing you of making this decision lightly,
but definitely make sure you understand all the legal issues as well before you undertake this. They will, naturally, be dependent on your state.

I know that, in some states, surrogate contracts are not legally recognized. In other states, they're required.

That being said, if you truly trust your friends, then I applaud you for doing this wonderful thing for them.

preggers...I never felt so good as when I was pregnant..beyond the morning sickness it can be counted as amoung the most wonderful time of my life!

What a wonderful thing to consider. I hope you find all the info you need and if you go through with it, I hope the best for you and your friends! From what I have read .. and I recall the countdown to your last youngun .. you seem to be a very compassionate and generous person.

9. You should really think before you speak
I was once looking into gestational surrogacy myself. Many many of the intended parents HAD tried adoptions, both international and domestic. Many HAD tried to qualify as foster parents. Either they didn't "qualify" or things just didn't work out. My aunt suffered through 3 failed adoptions, 15 years of heartache. She and my Uncle finally adopted my cousin, just barely before they would have been considered "too old". My sister-in-law sufferers from a blood disorder and many agencies wouldn't take them on. They are terrific parents to the two older children they adopted from Russia. I feel horrible for all the other children that missed out on such wonderful parents. Don't blame someone for finding a way to start a family, blame the horrid challenges place in front of many in regards to adoption.

11. That's a very mean attitude to have.
Don't judge what you don't know. What she is volunteering to do is an EXTREMLY selfless act. What you said was especially hurtfull knowing that to talk about something this private on a public board is a great expression of her trust in us. Drop the stone and go back into your glass house...I will go into mine.

Sheesh.

4. Here are two links
http://www.fertilitystories.com/surrogacy.htm

The site seems not to be a comprehensive analysis, but it has a collection of "stories both of surrogate mothers and of intended parents", along with some links to other sites.

http://www.surromomsonline.com/

This site's self-description: "Virtual Meeting Ground for the Surrogacy Community".

Good luck!
