Enemy fire forced down US helicopters in Afghanistan
KABUL, Dec 5 (PG) - Two US helicopters that made emergency landings in volatile southern Afghanistan, injuring five US troops and an Afghan soldier, were hit by hostile fire, the US military said Monday.
The CH-47 Chinook heavy-lift choppers involved in US-led coalition operations against Taliban rebels and other Islamic militants were forced down separately on Sunday.
"Both helicopters received enemy fire," Lieutenant Colonel Laurent Fox, a spokesman for the 20,000-strong coalition, told reporters.
