See paragraph -3-

Asian Leaders Find China a More Cordial Neighbor

snip...

Symbolically, perhaps, the Chinese president, Hu Jintao, landed a day ahead of Mr. Bush in Thailand, still basking in the afterglow of China's first space mission.

snip...

Both leaders are being accorded a state visit to Thailand before the opening on Monday of the 21-member Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (news - web sites) meeting. Then, almost in tandem, they will move south to Australia, where Mr. Bush will address Parliament on Thursday, followed the next day by Mr. Hu.

snip...

Answering a reporter's question before leaving Washington, Mr. Bush said mostly white Australia was not just a deputy sheriff for Asia, as the reporter suggested, but a "sheriff."

This word, particularly associated with a major American military ally, provokes shudders and distaste across Asia. The Australian defense minister, Robert Hill, hurriedly disowned the comparison.

1. Yep. And on the way back from THAT screw-up,
Condoleeza said his trip to Japan was a "layover", which insulted the Japanese. They stepped on toes all the way home. Truly a bunch of blundering idiots.

I guess that's what happens when you think the world ends at the Texas border.

7. Philippino,s Send Bu$h*t Running
Thousands of Philipino's took to the streets protesting the presence of the world's number 1 terrorist, forcing Bush*t and his criminal possee to cut the visit short for security concerns. So much for success.
I can't recall any other (so called) leader of the United States that has stirred up so much hatred through out this planet.

12. Media Spin
This mourning I saw images like the one you just posted on CBS showing thousands in the street protesting Resident Evil's presence in their country, along with the report that he had to cut the visit short because of security concerns.
Then I switched to NBC (Westinghowzen) where they made no mention of the trip being cut short, but did spin, that tens of thousands welcomed the Resident with a few thousand protesting.

3. He shouldn't be allowed to represent us to other countries
Edited on Sat Oct-18-03 10:32 AM by WhoCountsTheVotes
It's embarrassing, and losing face and gaffes are forgiven in the US quicker than some other countries. At least send Powell or anyone else who isn't a total idiot. While Reagan wasn't taken all that seriously by a lot of leaders, at least he was affable and not offensive to his hosts.

Edit: saving to losing

13. Unfortunately, you are wrong about the Texas border comment This
lousy excuse for a human and his evil, bungling ship of fools, think that the whole world belongs and revolves around them because they have the most power and guns and therefore they can do and say whatever they want. It is more likely that he thinks (well feels, no real thinking involved, obviously) that there aren't any borders just more land for his empire.

5. That is because
Rove is in charge of what Bush says, and many of his pronouncements are for the sake of winning votes in America, not establishing good relations overseas.

8. The Chimp et al
I don't think the gaffes are messages meant to score points in the U.S. Rather, I think that ChimpCo just has tacky and tasteless people working for it.

6. Don't forget to rate this story!
Bush has deeply wounded the US. In the eyes of the world, Bush is a very dangerous man and I have no doubt that everything is being done to reduce the US's influence in case Bush is re-selected in 04.
