The past that might have been

I have been reading Phillip Roth's "The Plot Against America." To some extent, the book feels rabidly left-wing. But there's a twist. Lindbergh was an isolationist, and in The Plot Against America he runs against FDR with the slogan: "Vote for Lindbergh or Vote for War." There's a bitter pill here for antiwar activists to swallow...
