At a loss for Christmas present ideas?
Edited on Sun Dec-04-05 09:10 PM by StellaBlue
Donate care packages to our troops through the USO! Even better, in your freeper relatives' names!

Put your money where your mouth is and SUPPORT THE TROOPS! It may cost a bit more than a magnetic bumper sticker, but it is a REAL contribution and is just as easy, since you can donate online!

I am donating my budget of $200 for Xmas this year.

To whom it may concern,

Hello! My name is PFC Tara D. Smith, and I am currently deployed in Balad, Iraq. My company recently received a large amount of packages from the USO that were bursting with goodies of all types for us. I felt it appropriate to respond on a day of celebration, Independence Day, because that is exactly what we did when the boxes arrived. I helped my Commander to sort and distribute the items we received, and it was overwhelming how much effort went into these care packages. We could visibly see that, and it was felt by all that the USO went above and beyond to make our lives a little easier out here. The items were useful, appropriate, and very much appreciated. Everyone has been running around snapping pictures of each other and the things we do on a daily basis out here. I know how excited everyone was to have a little unexpected gift bag arrive out of the blue, and it truly lifted everyone’s morale. On behalf of all the Bandits in the 299th Forward Support Battalion…

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND KINDNESS!!!! I am using the film up as we speak, and I will gladly mail the camera back to the sender ASAP. We thank you for your hard work and effort, and trust me when I say it did not go unnoticed. Take care and keep up the amazing work!

Sincerely,

PFC Smith

B Co., 299th FSB, 1st

1. have given my budget to MercyCorps
http://mercycorps.org/

Too many people suffering in New Orleans, Pakistan, Iraq, and everywhere else to buy silly nothings for people who already have more somethings than they know what to do with.

2. I sent my present money to Senior Services Meals on Wheels
I made a small donation in the name of each member of my family to Senior Citizens services Meals on Wheels.

It wasn't much but it helped with a one day fundraiser drive that raised over 4000 dollars. For meals on wheels.
