In North Carolina, Bowles Leads Burr
Edited on Fri Oct-17-03 09:54 PM by Bombtrack
In the North Carolina Senate race, Erskine Bowles (D) "has a double-digit lead" over Rep. Richard Burr (R) "in a hypothetical Senate matchup, according to an independent poll taken last month for a nonpartisan North Carolina business group," Roll Call reports.

--------------

just another anti-edwards talking point debunked. First supporters of other candidates(and the political media) bashed him for "leaving the NC dem party in a stalemate", and for "not making a decision already", then when he did make a decision he "screwed the dems senate chances" and what not.

Edwards has always been the candidate with the best chance of ushering in a democratic senate in 04, and congress by 06 or 08. Certain other top-tier potential presidential primary nominees would almost certainly be avoided by dem candidates around the country for campaigning and overall association.

Edwards would be embraced, the NC seat would almost certainly be protected with an Edwards nomination. Georgia and South Carolina, where Edwards has personally lived during his youth, are the 2 least safe seats for democrats, and I'm hardpressed to think of an argument why any other nominee would have a stronger case that he could hold them on his(or her) coattails, better than Edwards could.

Now if only i could stop the "he'd make a great vp" babble

1. nice unbiased opinion you're offering
:eyes:

what (facts) make you think that Democratic candidates would avoid campaigning or associating themselves with everyone but Edwards?

based on what (facts) do you figure that Edwards has the best chance of bringing in a Democratic senate in 04?

i didn't say they'd avoid everone but edwards, read it again. Certain candidates

He has a natural appeal to the part of the country we need to appeal most to during this election in order to not lose more seats.

the TOP gop targets in this election are NC, SC, GA, and FL. Every other serious candidates lacks an obvious relatability to those areas.

A case can be made for Clark, who I believe is the second strongest candidate(in the general election). But Edwards attatchment is a bigger part of who he is.

4. Isn't everyone here biased?
What "facts" do you have that attest to Dean's ability to carry a general election or have congressional coattails.

Don't get me wrong, I like Dean (my 2nd or 3rd choice) but why is it necessary to slam good news in NC?

5. I don't have any facts to support that contention…
but then again, I'm not the one who made it.
