Alito suggests to Specter he would not support overturning Roe v Wade
He emphasizes judicial precedent. Alito's memos, etc., and the reaction of Dems and moderate Republicans have forced the WH to get this word out, according to CNN's Ed Henry, just now on air. The Alito nomination is "in trouble," according to Henry, although not in as serious trouble as Miers's. I'm encouraged, at the least, that the point that apparently needs to be made is not that Alito would overturn Roe, but that he would likely not do so.

he is applying for a job after all - isn't that what he told DiFi and she found him charming!?! as in snake oil salesman charming.

4. Specter will do what he always does.
He'll find some explanation to justify doing what the right wing of the GOP tells him to do, all the while keeping up a pretense of being thoughtful and moderate.

5. I don't think he would vote to overturn it
but he would chip away at it so much that it would take more than 12 weeks to get the paperwork done. Then they could start in on the late term procedure bans.

Plus I don't think he'd hesitate to have the woman need to inform her husband, parents and anyone at work that she is considering the procedure, allow them time to write in objections.

I think Alito is one dangerous guy and the possibility of his appointment scares me a lot.
