Deserting versus Complaining
Some of our kids in iraq are being honest about their feelings towards a civilian government which is motivated by lies. They have "expressed their dissatisfaction" about being used for someone else's personal gain instead of being used for what they were trained for and may face disciplinary action for being honest.

Compare/Contrast

George bush got a gig in TANG during the Vietnam War because of family connections. He isn't honest today and he wasn't honest then. He had other things to do in 72 and certainly couldn't subject his precious christian conservative republican urine to a drug screening so he DESERTED. He didn't face disciplinary action then and he has a whole army of enablers who are trying to ensure he doesn't face disciplinary action now.

WHO WOULD YOU WANT SERVING NEXT TO YOU WHEN THE SHIT HIT THE FAN? Our complaining kids in iraq or a man who deserted the kids who died in Vietnam?

4. Great post!
What a contrast! The alleged man in the White House and soldiers who are actually in harms way, in boiling heat, doing their duty.

Sort of adds resonance to Bush's talk-the-talk "bring 'em on" taunt and his look-how-I-get-to-use-all-the-toys Top Gun stunt.

7. Not a hard question to answer...
I'll stand with the complaining kids any time. I'm a 60 year old woman, and knew lots of guys who went to Viet Nam...some came back, and some didn't. They complained, too. Complaining is a safety valve for some of them, and there is no denying that they, and the rest of the country, were lied to.

I didn't believe the lies, but it's hard for me to find fault with youngsters to not have the maturity yet to be able to distinguish between the neo-cons deceptions and distortions, and the truth. I just wish they had never had to go, and wish they were safely home.

Sometimes, I see pictures of hollow eyed men my age, who served in other wars, and were forever changed. The Bush gang certainly cares nothing for them, and cares nothing for the ones serving today. Bush is a coward, a bully, and a disgrace to the country.
