New campaign to END CORRUPTION! AFatherWeeps....
Edited on Fri Dec-02-05 10:39 AM by peace_on_earth

Never before have so few owed so much, to so many...

They were placed in their positions of power by the common person. Yet it is power that they seek, and no gratitude is given in return.

Corruption is running rampant on Capitol Hill as our country's leaders are embroiled in a battle prompted by greed and lust of power. No-bid contracts are doled out to friends and supporters like campaign buttons at an election rally. The congress sits idly by as a war claims the lives of our bravest and dearest men and women.

All but forgotten are the victims of Katrina, lost in the chaos created by mismanagement and misguided priorities. Where is that FEMA ice now, or the millions of dollars we taxpayers spent for it to go to Maine and back?

The economy is failing, the real estate market teeters on collapse, unemployment looms, and more and more people choose food over medicine. The ice caps melt away, while oil rigs head toward the Arctic wilderness.

The nations of the world scorn a once caring and benevolent giant, a giant that has carelessly pushed them aside in its hunger for oil, for corporate contracts, for arrogant domination where a father once failed.

Yet that father does not speak. But if this nation's true father could, what would he say? He would certainly grieve for all that we have squandered, for all the vision and hopes he once held that now lay scattered in pieces in the mounting refuse piles dotting our landscape.

Yet we do stand, in part. Women and men are speaking up, but their voices have yet to be heard. With presidential approval in the lower 30th percentile, and congressional approval only slightly higher, you would think that they would make an extra effort to understand the wants of the people, of their constituency. But that doesn't appear to be the case.

The Republicans control the House and the Senate, wielding the power to make change, to investigate wrong doing, to enforce the will of the people. But they are too busy guarding their precious loot and power.

The Democrats wander around like lost school children, with no idea what to be when they grow up and no idea where they are now.

Letters and emails have been written by hundreds of thousands of Americans in the hope they would listen. Few have. Most letters go unanswered and most emails return with an automated form letter stating that we are deluded children and that we should not worry, they will guide us. And they thank us for all our support.

Well, it's time to start sending them a message that they cannot ignore. One that they will carry with them on their person. A message that will remind them what the American people expect from them. Remind them that we are NOT happy and they MUST change NOW! A message they cannot avoid.

Our message will greet them with their first morning cup of Starbucks Latte, flash before their eyes at lunch and dinners out in fancy restaurants. It will be cherished by them, carried far and wide, yet close to their hearts.

Why would our message succeed where no other has? Because we will write it on the money they hold so dear.

I am now calling on EVERY American who cares for this country and who sees the waste, the greed, and the corruption that has become commonplace. I am now calling on every American who demands change. What I ask is simple.

On every dollar bill you receive or spend, in RED ink draw a tear under George Washington's eye. As more and more join this movement, these tears will spread, until not a single person in this country will be able to open their wallet without seeing our message.

Together, let our voices be heard, let our mark be made. Let us have our country back!

Website coming soon....

5. Hey fellow NewYawker! Thanks!
Can ya help me kick this thing? Or provide advice on how I can keep it somehow near the top of the heap?

Or, if that won't work, when can I repost it without upsetting Skinner?

Thanks!:P
