So, now can we call "Fall Festival" Halloween again?
I just saw F***** Carlson on a morning "news" show talking about how Christians are taking back Christmas by calling "Holiday" trees Christmas trees again!

So, can the rest of us now go back to calling "Fall Festival" Halloween again? Having lived in some very red areas, I was told by the local wingnuts that Halloween is satanic and that the more Christian "Fall Festival" was a better appellation.

These people are freaks!

Let's inform them of that fact.

7. Yes
And let it take back its true meaning as part of the celebration of the cycle of life.

4. I thought it was
Samhain... or is that just the spin-off of the Misfits that Danzig did before he really wussed out?

5. Actually, the fall festival is Michaelmas -- Every Sept. 29
Edited on Fri Dec-02-05 07:41 AM by SpiralHawk
the good thing about Michaelmas is that the figure of Archangel Michael is held in respect by Moslems, Jews, and Christians. That's a start in the right direction...some common ground.

As an Extra Added Bonus -- no one has commercialized Michaelmas (yet).

6. Want some cheese with that whine, "Christians"?
Are you right-wing "Christians" so insecure in your faith that you're threatened by someone who says "Happy Holidays" rather than "Merry Christmas"? How sad.

8. That's funny!
The irony is that Halloween is supposedly a Christian holiday as well! Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the early church, in an attempt to eradicate the popular pagan celebration of the Celtic new year, "marry" the holiday of All Saints to the pagan Samhain? Kinda in the same way that they married Jesus' birthday onto the popular celebration of Saturnalia? The theory being, of course, that the religious holiday would eventually replace the pagan holiday. Of course, it didn't work. Halloween has virtually NO religious significance these days, and Christmas has become largely a secular holiday with many, many pagan influences. Last night I flipped past Faux News and the headline on the crawl was The War on Christmas. LOL.

9. No. That would be offensive to a persecuted group,
the Christians.
