Robertson: Black folks won't vote for Dem pol not nicknamed "Bubba"
Robertson: "Black folks aren't going to vote" for a Democratic nominee not nicknamed "Bubba"

During a November 30 discussion about politics and religion on Christian Broadcasting Network's The 700 Club, which featured Fox News' John Gibson, host Pat Robertson stated: "If you haven't got a Democratic nominee who can be called 'Bubba' , you're not going to get him in office. You're not going to get a New England liberal, no way! Black folks aren't going to vote for people like that."

In fact, exit polling data for the 2004 presidential election indicated that of the African Americans who voted, 88 percent cast their ballots for Democratic candidate Sen. John F. Kerry (D-MA).

From the November 30 edition of Christian Broadcasting Network's The 700 Club:

GIBSON: I have said it before, so I don't think I'm getting into any trouble for saying it today. I think one of the reasons Kerry lost is that Christian liberals felt that the hostility expressed by the Democratic Party toward Christians made them uncomfortable. African-Americans did not turn out to vote for Kerry as they were expected to. Christian liberals of the Eastern seaboard didn't turn out as they were expected to, and I've always said, look, if you got Howard Dean going around complaining about right-wing evangelicals, other Christians are going to say, hmmm, this makes me a little uncomfortable to hear that kind of talk.

ROBERTSON: Well, I just think it's really -- if you haven't got a Democratic nominee who can be called "Bubba," you're not going to get him in office.

ROBERTSON: You're not going to get a New England liberal, no way!

GIBSON: Well --

ROBERTSON: Black folks aren't going to vote for people like that. They're just not going to do it!

22. And he still hasn't been punished
for his Chavez comment and the only reason why he did that was because of his connections to minerals down there.

4. No PatR trademark terrorist threats, but a gaffe from god's earthly rep
is always fun to hear.

Personally, I'd love to see some liberal group collect clips of Robertson - recommending bombing of the US State Department, recommending the assassination of Hugh Chavez, telling the residents of Dover, PA that gods wrath will be upon them - get those clips and create 30 second TV spots and air them all over prime time. His credibility - assuming he has any - would be ruined, and people would resent and fear him - as they should.

6. Racist freak
Last time I checked, black people voted for Kerry in a landslide. What the hell did race have to do with the question anyway? I always suspected he was a racist and I was right. This little demon isn't getting away with this, he's gonna get a real harsh email from me.

10. Typical Robertson BS!!!
You got to admit, Pat is definitely living in his own la la land. And it's apparent that he doesn't know how to read either, because you can go to any site dealing with Election statistics, and it says in plain in english, that blacks throughout the country voted for Kerry over Bush overwhelming.:dunce:

16. This liberal Christian voted for KERRY!
But then, I'm not black. Maybe it's a white bigot's idea of who a black person would vote for.

Pat Robertson needs to be put away somewhere, for the sake of reason and sanity.

17. Robertson has senile dementia. He has been extra screwy
for the last few years, saying shit he has to explain and try to justify the following day to prevent mobs from burning down the house.

18. Honestly, as much as I feel excommunication to be contrary to
the spirit of Christianity, and as much as most Protestant sects don't practice it, I wish we could excomminicate Robertson, Gibson, and Falwell.

"These men teach things that are contrary to God's love, as revealed through Scripture and the Holy Spirit. Do not listen to them, they are false prophets and Worshippers of Mammon."

Something like that. Read them out of meeting.

authority on who black people will vote for? Why don't you let the "black folks" decide for themselves who they'll vote for, you racist piece of shit?

24. I would chalk Pat's comments up to senility, but...
He's been making them for decades. In the 80s, he called for Khaddafy to be killed. Reagan took him up on it and tried, but only succeeded in killing the Colonel's children.
He claimed that prayer prevented a hurricane from hitting Virginia Beach. He claims God talks to him. He called for the banning of Halloween. He hawks "longevity shakes and pancakes" on his christian tv show for personal profit.

I watch his show when I get a day off with a sort of morbid fascination.
