Why do Republican Conservatives HATE America?
Edited on Mon Nov-28-05 06:54 PM by BIG Sean
Hi,

I can not understand for the life of me why these people hate "America" so much.

Right Wingers scream about how great it is to be an American (and it is!) but they want to take away the very freedoms and ideas that make the U.S. so great.

What is more "American" than Freedom of Speech? Yeah, now tell that to the mother of a soldier killed in the line of duty. What has Cindy Sheehan done other than speak her mind regarding the war that killed her only son?

Go to any Right Wing website and you will see a logo with some combination of the Flag and the Statue of Liberity. But what of the words ON the statue? "Send us your poor...."

Who hates the poor more than Right Wing Conservatives? Who hates imigration more than the Right Wing?

Hey, I'm a corny guy. I still get choked up when I hear the star spangled banner, I stand at parades when the flag comes, and I was and am VERY PROUD of my nephew that has served with honor (getting wounded!) in Iraq. What does our Right Wing President and his followers do? Send our troops off to die over a lie, and then cut benefits for our veterans!

The middle class is getting squeezed at every turn, and the poor are not just looked down upon...they are openly ridiculed!

I love America! Why do Republican Conservatives have to HATE America so damn much!

Sorry about the rant.

3. Sorry?
Hell, I'm sorry you didn't take another 20 paragraphs to develop this theme. It's something the Democratic Party could and should run with in the countdown to the midterms. You are absolutely right on!

8. Hey Big Sean - you have asked the wrong question.
If you change your question to "Why do conservative Repuglicans hate Americans?" it answers itself. They actually love their version of America - it just doesn't include all Americans.

13. Republicans don't hate America, they *love* it
Their warped, bastardized version of it. What they loathe is that they can't control everybody in the country and mold the entire nation to fit their twisted view of what America should be. That is why they are the hateful pricks that they are.

15. They are genuinely anti-American demonizing any American citizen,...
,...who isn't as barbaric and intolerant and violent and greedy as they are.

The right-wingers would give up due process, liberty, civil and human protections et al for a buck. That is anti-American and anti-democracy. That is fascism.

17. Actually,
I see two different types of Conservative Republicans - the wealthy elite, who hate anything and everything that interferes with gaining more wealth and concentrating it in certain circles, and the majority of their voting base, who constitute the very people that the fucking Republicans hurt the worst, but who are evidently too stupid to figure that out, or, more probably, are too blinded by the God / Guns / Gays / Anti-abortion rhetoric that the Repukes love to spew, because they have no platform or vision beyond screwing the working class and middle class. And, they don't so much hate America, as they hate the all inclusive, liberal vision for America, which strives for a better world and better way of life for all of our citizens. As long as liberals, minorities, gays, women, secular humanists just shut up and go along with their program, settle for working some minimum wage shit job, with no health insurance, no benefits, no Social Security or retirement, and happily send our sons and daughters and husbands and wives off to die for Halliburton, the Republicans will be just as happy and content as flies on shit. Gawd bless Amurica.

18. May I play devils advocate for a min....
It is my understanding, that both sides hate each other. I have heard the right say the left hates america and all it stands for, and I have heard the left say the right hates america and all it stands for.

You said, "What is more "American" than Freedom of Speech?", "...but they want to take away the very freedoms and ideas that make the U.S. so great."

I agree, the freedom of speech is a great thing. Thus in part allowing me/us to write what we want. But if you are gonna say that the 1st amendment is important, wouldn't it be correct to say that ALL of the amendments are just as important, even if you don't agree with them? Some don't agree with the 2nd amendment, (Which was ruled by the supreme court that it is an individual right.) does that mean that it is less important because you don't agree with it? To be honest, I don't even remember all of the amendments, and their purpose. However, I do know enough to know that if we will treat one as important, we (as a country) should treat ALL of them just as important. Regardless if we personally agree or disagree with them.

This is not meant to start a flame war. PLEASE do not start a flame war over this, however, it just a slightly different take on things.

20. Seems Tangential To The Point
Nobody here hates america because guns are legal. I would challenge you to find one statement on DU to that effect. So your thesis is flawed.

19. Been Asking Myself The Same Question
They were angry when "liberals" ran the Congress. Now they run the Congress and they're still angry.

They were angry because of the liberal media. Now they've got talk radio, Faux News, the Washington Times, several magazines, and they brag about the huge ratings for their electronic side. And they're still angry. When Bush's popularity was at 80%, they didn't talk about the media at all. Now, it's 36% and it's the media's fault. And still, they're angry!

They spent 8 years angry about Clinton. He's gone, and they've got their boy in the White House. And still they're angry.

They want soldiers to fight for our freedom. They get ANGRY when anyone questions the war. But, excercising that freedom makes them angry.

The only conclusion i can draw is that they are very bitter, narrow people who are only comfortable with anger.
The Professor

22. Far be it from me to defend any conservative, but
I do take issue with "Who hates imigration more than the Right Wing?" I don't know of any right winger who rails against LEGAL immigration (although if you do, let me know - I could really use a name to settle a recurring argument). And when it comes to illegal immigration, in my opinion they're not entirely without a point. They may be fucked in the head in a lot of aspects, but I do agree with some of their points about illegals.

When they paint us all with one brush as "hating America" for not supporting the war or criticizing the Fuckstick-in-Chief, how do we react? I'd prefer not to use the same broad, sweeping accusations they use. I do agree with a lot of your post, but I'd prefer not to stoop to their tactics.

Go ahead and flame away if you must, but I really felt that this needed to be said.

23. They're losers! Simple and to the point! Their actions don't
result is anything positive, never have and never will! I just bet they hate President Clinton for being so successful while having to defend ** who has brought their party and America to its knees! Clinton balanced the budget, reduced the size of Government, reduced crime, created jobs( good paying jobs) basically did everything the GOP purports to do, while bushco has done the exact opposite. No wonder they hate Clinton!
