1. would you if it were a Dem ?
Edited on Mon Nov-28-05 02:40 PM by Drifter
I certainly would not want corrupt Dems in our Government.

Corrupt is corrupt is corrupt, and they should be removed from office, regardless of their party affiliation.

Cheers
Drifter

which frightens me. :scared:

We really are faced with a Culture of Corruption in the Republican Party of today. Don't forget that the Duke has been allowed to keep his seat even after information surfaced earlier this year of his financial and political improprieties. If the Duke had been a Dem he would have lost his subcommittee seat many moons ago

I don't know why, but the post that seems the funniest to me is "Duke should be remembered for winning the greatest single air-to-air engagement of the Vietnam War, the encounter between "Showtime 100" and the MiG-17 of the fabled "Colonel Tomb". "

22. A quick Google shows that Col Tomb didn't exist
or at least his existance is controversial and roundly denined by NVAF.

From a book review:
As with any work of such large scope, errors and misconceptions are bound to appear. Navy enlisted ratings are seldom given except as "PO" for petty officer, and crewmen rates are never shown. Navy F-4 back-seaters are also listed as "navigators," strictly an early Air Force designation. Occasionally, wrong designations appear in the photo captions, such as the picture on p. 18 that shows a postwar F-4J of VF-96, while the caption discusses the F-4B. Another error involves the entry for 26 October 1967 and then-Lieutenant Commander John S. McCain. He lost the presidential nomination race to Governor, not Senator, George Bush. And McCain was not aboard the carrier Oriskany during the terrible fire of October 1966.

Somewhat surprisingly, Chris Hobson also continues the now-defunct legend of the Cunningham-Driscoll confrontation with top North Vietnamese ace "Colonel Tomb." This story of the nonexistent ace has been pretty well debunked by the North Vietnamese themselves.

The negative points aside, this new book is well worth the price and deserves a place on the shelf of anyone interested in America's longest war.

Be prepared for a new barrage of "culture of corruption" 24/7.

This will come from such "clean gov." reps like Rahm (what Streets and San workers?) Emanuel, Jan (I didnt know my husband was a crook) Shakowski (sp) and Jesse ( what bud beer distributorship shakedown) Jackson Jr.

I am getting nervous about what will happen when the Noe case develops in Ohio.

We have some serious problems in '06 Speaker Pelosi anyone??? Majority Leader Reid?? God help us.

9. That was funny. One of the taglines I saw at FR.com spoke volumes...
...in an unintentional way. It said: If you aren't part of the solution, there is good money to be made prolonging the problem.

They might as well have used what passes for Halliburton's mission statement. Halliburton is, at the same time, part of the solution, NOT part of the solution, part of the problem and prolonging the problem.

10. war hero? war hero?
The Viet Nam Swindlers for the Truth have shown that he never was even IN Viet Nam

And his medals were all phony too.

Same with McCain, who has been lying about being a POW for way too long. He actually worked for the North.

Long forgotten now, though, since the goal of getting their own "war hero" back into office was achieved...

25. *lol* ~ the Noe case will be NOTHING compared to the Abramoff
Affairs, which Freepers seem to be blissfully unaware of so far.

As one article said recently 'The Abramoff affairs are like a hurricane of the magnitude of Katrina heading down Constitution Ave. directly towards the Republican Party!' or words to that effect!

Poor freepers, maybe they should just come over to the right side, rather than clinging on by their fingernails to one of the most corrupt administrations in US history!

Indictments of top Repubs so far:

1) Safavian, Dir. of Procurements for the WH, for lying to cover for Tom Delay in one of the Abramoff Affairs.

2) Tom Delay on charges of money-launderging and under investigation in the Abramoff affairs.

3) Libby, in the Valerie Plame affair.

4) Cunningham for corruption

5) Larry Franklin, from Feith's OSP, in the Spies in the Pentagon affair. Already entered a guilty plea.

6) Scanlon, close associate of Abramoff, said to be cooperating now with federal prosecutors in the Abramoff affairs.

The list of those under investigation is too long to list here. But here are a few:

Dozens of Republican Congressmen, including Ney, Hastert and Blunt in the Abramoff affair.

Several members of Gale Norton's Interior Dept. in the Abramoff affair.

Douglas Feith (supplying false info on Iraq)

Sen. Frist (insider trading)

Perle (in the Hollinger/Black case)

Upcoming trials:

Enron Exec, 'Kennyboy' Lay in January
Pentagon Spy Case in January also
Lewis Libby

Then there is, as the Freeper mentioned, the whole Ohio mess. Noe, Taft et al.

Not to mention Gov. Ryan, with 30 indictments handed down so far.

Iow, the Freeps have way more to worry about than just Ohio, which is bad enough ~

Has there ever been this level of corruption in all branches of government, involving one part. Both leaders of the House, and the Speaker under investigation also. Two top WH officials already indicted. It's mind-boggling even for unfreeps!

31. That wouldn't be surprising although I could not find
a direct link from Abramoff to Noe yet. There is the Rep. Ney close connnection to Abramoff (he may soon be indicted also, according to reports) and since Noe has been compared to Abramoff, in that he 'knew everyone' I too wonder what, if any, connection there is between the two of them.

If Noe is connected to Ney, (and I'm sure he is) and Ney is connected to Abramoff, then Coingate might be getting a lot more interesting.

This reminds me of a Clancy Brothers' song, that goes like this: (Orig. words spelled 'No' and 'Nay')

The Wild Rover

I've been a wild rover, for many a long year
And I've spent all me money on whiskey and beer
And now I'm returning with gold in great store
And I never will play the wild rover no more.

And it's Noe, Ney, Never, (clap, clapclap clap)
Noe, Ney, Never, Nomore!
Will I plaaaay ~ aaaay the wild rover,
Noe, Never, No more!!
etc.

 I just noticed the 'Rover' in the song also!

32. *lol* ~ no, I don't have an account over there
I imagine I wouldn't last long if I posted that there ~ one post, maybe!

I meant to add to the above list in case someone else decides to go 'over there':

7) Republican lobbiest, Jack Abramoff, in the Suncruz gambling casino affair.

8) Republican, Kidan, Abramoff's partner, in the gambling casino case. He may also be implicated in the mob murder of his business associate, Greek Casino owner Boulis. One of his 'consultants', is one of three indicted for that murder, all three are mafia connected.

I like this one:

"Exactly what I said about McCain and John Glenn after they admitted to being bribed by Charles Keating. Duke should resign effective yeaterday and let the people of his district elect someone hones. That in my mind is more hornable than McCain and Glenn sitting in the Seante and preaching to us about honesty. Vote for McCain? Not in this life."
