Holiday Sales Off to a Lukewarm Start
isn't this for the fourth straight year?

those tax cuts sure invigorated our economy, didn't they?

And the only way Wal Mart gained profits was to drastically slash prices:

1. You do not gain profit by slashing prices
you are cutting your profit margin. This ONLY works if you can get a big increase in VOLUME.

4. I went shopping this morning
in my PJ's, eating toast and drinking coffee, at 8 AM, at Overstock.com and Ebay. I burned no gasoline nor fought any crowds. I bought a Down Comforter, Flannel Sheets, and Shearling Slippers. They are all gifts for my daughter who specifically asked for these. Please take NOTICE of what the items are.

NECESSITIES for the "climate" we are living in.

7. I did almost all my shopping online last year, and this year too!
I love it! I don't have to deal with crowds, nasty people, traffic, spending $$ on gas, and all the other crap that goes along with the insanity of shopping in stores.

Almost everything I bought had free or very low shipping and no sales tax, so how the hell can you beat it???

9. Shopping malls are in a period of decline.
They have been for a long time. People have started to shun the crowds, the overpriced stuff, the hassles.

Millions of people are now doing their shopping online. This is a good thing.

Now if we can just get Wal-Mart to have its lousiest year ever, I'm going to celebrate. If there was one time we could send a strong message to that company, it's now.

13. few lines here, little traffic getting into the
malls, restaurants still have tables available. My son has a part time job in a fast food restaurant and they are sending people home and cutting hours every week. And few lights being strung on houses....which is most odd in this area. In my neighborhood many people decorate their houses on Thanksgiving weekend. Not so this year. Northern Kentucky is hurting from Delta and Comair, so I doubt we will see alot of shopping or decorating.

14. But all the TV propaganda..
Clearly something is wrong here. All I heard on the TeeVee yesterday was how well all the merchants were doing. Not to mention, how "lucky" we CONsumers had it with greatly discounted merchandice..

But just wait for those HIGH heating billing and we'll see how much people spend(sqander) on this Christmas...
