Does anyone know where I can find a list of how many soldiers have been
severely injured in Iraq. I got into an argument this morning and need to find a non-partisan website with the info. This person argued that most of the injuries aren't so bad and the soldiers walk right back into combat, while I tried to tell him how many people have been injured so badly that they will need medical care the rest of their lives (i.e amputees, burn victims, ect..)

1. I can't help with your original question but
There are plenty of articles you should be able to find with easy research on the web, to the effect that because of advances in battlefield medicine since Vietnam, wounds that used to be fatal no longer are. This logically translates that there are more soldiers who would have been dead, but now just have massive wounds.

5. A documentary the other day - "America's Secret Shame"
cited 30,000 injured, however that did cover everything IIRC. (Although it was mentioned that only combat injuries were counted by the Pentagon - there was a guy who suffered electrical burns in an accident in base who wasn't on the official list.)

The most incredible thing in the documentary was that people who've lost limbs are being sent back to Iraq. Apparently the Pentagon has a goal of one day getting 40% of amputees back into service.

If you can do bittorrent, there's a link to the documentary here:
