Question For DUers on Patriotic Statements

Is anyone keeping a record of all the crap from Bush, Cheney, and the Republicans about how opposing the President and or the war is un-American etc.

It would be nice to have all this dissent is un-American crap in one place where people can find it for use in the future when we have a Democratic President. People like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Ann Coulter, etc. have said opposing the President and or the war is un-American and borders on treason. We need to have these statements saved and archived somewhere so we can use them when needed.

That way when the Republicans start doing it in the future we can use their own words and shove it right back in their faces.

Here is what Zell Miller said at the 2004 Republican National Convention about people who criticize the way President Bush has launched and conducted the Iraq war:.

While young Americans are dying in the sands of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan, our nation is being torn apart and made weaker because of the Democrats' manic obsession to bring down our commander in chief.

Motivated more by partisan politics than by national security, today's Democratic leaders see America as an occupier, not a liberator.

In warped way of thinking, America is the problem, not the solution. They don't believe there is any real danger in the world except that which America brings upon itself.

Kerry would let Paris decide when America needs defending. I want Bush to decide.

Every one of those charges are lies. I guess old Zell forgot when Bush had a 90% approval rating, that was before he invaded Iraq in the illegal and unjustified war over lies about WMD's. When Bush addressed Congress after 9/11, Democrats embraced and applauded him. In the Afghan war, they gave him everything he asked for. Most Democratic senators, including John Kerry and John Edwards, voted to give him the authority to use force in Iraq. John Kerry has never said that any other country should decide when the United States is entitled to defend itself.

And here is what Debra Saunders wrote in a 2002 townhall.com article:

If you oppose abortion rights, you're anti-abortion. Oppose capital punishment? You're anti-death penalty. If you oppose President Bush's Iraq policy, you're anti-Bush on Iraq.

It follows then that if you strongly object to not only the Bush Iraq policy, but also the popular war on terrorism and maintaining U.S. troops in Afghanistan, and if you believe that the United States attacks other countries, not in self-defense, but as an act of hegemony, and if you believe the American people are the war on terrorism's willing dupes, sorry, but you're anti-American.

http://www.townhall.com/opinion/columns/debrasaunders/2002/10/26/164741.html

She also wrote an article saying the California Federation of Teachers who passed a resolution opposing the Iraq war were un-American. So in the world of right-wingers if you oppose the President and the war you are un-American. When she was called on it for calling people un-American who opposed the war she said she called them Anti-American not un-American, like there is a difference.

The important thing to remember is that the Bush administration and the GOP is trying to stop all criticism of the president by claiming it is un-American to oppose the President or the war. They also say if you oppose the war you dont support the troops, and you hate America. Bill O'Reilly and his right-wing friends call anyone who is opposed to anything Bush does America haters. And if you dare to say these things, you're accused by Cheney etc. of defaming America and refusing "to support American troops in combat." That is the worst part, they accuse you of not supporting the troops for opposing the illegal Bush war.

Billy O'Reilly said that Americans who continue demonstrating against the war once the shooting begins are being un-American. Ann Coulter just flat out calls them traitors who should be put on trial for treason.

Right wing scum like David Horowitz from frontpagemag.com and Cliff Kincaid from AIM write articles calling anyone who is opposed to Bush and or the war America Haters.

America Haters

The America-Haters

by Reed Irvine and Cliff Kincaid

These people are the lowest form of life on earth, they try to make dissent un-American, and they claim you hate America if you do not support everything Bush and the Republicans do.

So I was wondering if anyone is keeping track of all these ridiculous dissent is un-American statements.
