A bit of news from New Orleans
I have a friend,who's has a cousin who's from Baton Rouge,
He is helping out with New Orleans still.
I heard from my friend who spoke to his cousin last week..that the pumps that pump out the water from New Orleans are being slowed down by bodies blocking the outflow.Since the water I guess is shallower,it is hitting what sunk to the bottom now.The water is not all gone yet.. because human bodies are clogging the lines..My friend told me his cousin was really upset by all of it,,he said rotting bodies are everywhere, they find them everywhere..in houses the streets..it's horrific.

I hear this and I am horrified too.
Honestly the right wingers are not sane or humane .

They are dangerous psychopaths supported by narcissists, bullies and people who do not care and think they are entitled to stomp upon others less fortunate. It's in the way they talk, vote and treat others. It's the right-wing way because of the kind of people right-wingers ARE.

The bully mentality that is seen as "individualism" and looking out for me and mine is enough ,It's not my backyard so I don't have to care,...needs to be exposed and hated until it is seen as the perverted poisoning of human hearts through human societies..that it is.
There will be no peace or sanity in society or on Earth until the authoritarians, elitists, con men, and the bullies and those who do not care about the well being of others are restrained or removed from us..This distinction of empathy vs non empathy in individuals needs to be understood and made and we must find a way to separate ourselves from them, contain them or destroy them. This awareness must be raised and distinctions made along abuse of power for any society that seeks to care and promote freedom, equality and peace is to withstand..

The "founders of America" made the bill of rights and constitution as an ethical blueprint of a nation adding the warning,It is free if we could keep it that way. Why do you think they wondered IF? The founding fathers knew the nature of tyrants is incompatible with civil rights freedom and human rights.

We are losing more of our freedoms every day.Every dead of the night vote..More of our human rights and our human empathy fade away for the desire for security as torture is discussed as if it's an option.
The world is rightfully afraid of the sickness "leading" our nation and other tyrannical regimes and corporations and groups like the G-8.And everyday we do not shout them down, confront them and shame them in person,as much as possible,Everyday we fail to get into their faces, wherever they hide,we fail to stop them..Why do we hold back, is it fear of losing a job,is it for the sake of the kids, fear of jail? for fear of "offending" these sociopaths who already hold too much power over our lives ? If we think we can placate them by giving them more power we are mistaken. Funny how we seem as a nation to lose our voice when it comes to standing up to the bullies around us.. We hold our tongues and "tolerate" the intolerable.

Why?

Everyday we waste tolerating these tyrants in the whitehouse, on the street,in our neighborhoods , or in our homes it can warp our social perception of each other ,one person at a time, eventually this undeserved "tolerance" adds up until a bit more of our humanity as a society is lost. And we no longer recognize evil hearted intentions of people in power for what it IS.

I have to say fascism has happened.. HERE and it's these psychopaths in Washington and the corporate executive suites and gated communities who want a slave state. There are others who fear freedom and would welcome a slave state because it feels secure to have a master,to them instead of being held responsible for decisions they make about right and wrong..

New Orleans was just the beginning of their new world ownership society where they own..US.. When the tyrannical are permitted to believe(through our apathy and willing tolerance of their intolerable conditions and abuses of power)They grab for more. If tyrants are allowed to tell us how to live our lives ,they can tell us when to work, what to say do and feel and how to die too.

Tyrants have no shame ,they don't care when workers are pulling the carcasses of mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, generations of people who were beloved by someone, broken bodies of the poor out of pumps mindlessly ,sending them into the gulf like forgotten trash to rot and fade with the fishes away from our national consciousness. We cannot forget New Orleans because to Bush Co WE are trash to be exploited and thrown away like the dead bodies clogging the pumps,we are nobodies.
And we cannot let each other become nobodies.

We are not human beings or their equals in the eyes of tyrants because WE tolerated the tyranny in a fit of ignorance or denial,we chose to not destroy them earlier.. and by our collective acquiescence and passive obedience to work,to bosses to the machines of commerce and state symbols of authority we still tolerate tyrants.

So for our obedience we get tyranny and tragedy. That is what we will get when we tolerate abusers of power and keep on pretending it can't happen here.

All that is required for evil to prevail is for good people to do nothing, stand by and refuse to act.

Because without OUR eternal vigilance and our rebellious anger at those who would abuse freedom and justice and humanity ...everything will be lost before we know it.

My heart goes out to the people of New Orleans and all the people who's loved ones (or parts of them) are lost rotting somewhere on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico,or destined to be fashionable human bone earrings.a necklace of five human fingertip bones sells for 100 bucks.
http://www.apocalypse.org/pub/u/hilda/ssd/humbn.html

Or how about someones mother's skull sold for some pseudo vampire rich kid's shelf decor? Where do you THINK the sources for human bones to sell are from folks? How did these people die? They I am sure did not donate their skull for "fashion" for the necrophilia fetish crowd.
You think it can't happen? THINK AGAIN. People LIE..Lots of money can make consummate liars out of all sorts of people. See for yourself.

http://www.boneroom.com/skulls/newskulls1.html

Don't turn away and make believe someone will stand up,the Dem's are fighting for us,They might not be.. It is a question that needs to be asked..(I fear with all the no brainer blunders and lack of spine and bad votes they have done they look more and more in cahoots with the republicans as in playing good cop bad cop with us to keep us from taking our rage to the streets) Please don't tell yourselves I am being hysterical. We are all in danger.

3. add in the dead critters that are clogging up
those pump intakes..not a job i`d want. the more i think about new orleans the more i realize just how little our government cares about the people in this country. the largest port in our country, one of the oldest cities, and a cultural gem lays in ruin because of greed and now neglect. god save us if another city goes under.

6. Bush will make it so
City by city.
America to busy, too atomized, too traumatized and scared to fight the shadow government,Too fearful of the next earthquake tidal wave or bomb,to seek out and "decapitate" the tyranny leading us into a horror-show.We will be thankful for the shelter camps.where we work off their debts for them obedient and willing to suffer until we die. With more of us poor and "inferior" kinds gone it will be more room for the criminal elites to occupy prime real estate and build their kingdoms on.
Bush was so upset about Trent Lott's house, yet we got bodies clogging up the water pumps..Why do you think he thinks like this? Because he is a tyrant folks. They'll do anything to protect themselves first than their own unethical kind. They want a world without love. This is what they want and they will cause as much suffering as WE will bear.We are like the frog in the boiling pot. It's hot,it's time to jump out and question the way we believe and perceive and stop trusting the wrong people..to fix a problem they do not want to fix because it's about thier good fortune to THEM we die off and we obey and work for no money and some of us even will go to iraq to die and kill and never ask why.

Look at some of the recent bills passing through congress.
You think I am crazy?

5. This is not on any news anywhere.....(about the bodies)
but what they did show on a Dutch newscast a few days ago was how all of the wealthier people are being allowed back into New Orleans and to their homes, while those from the poorer neighborhoods still had no access, no permission to return to check up on their property.

 :wtf:

It is the way of our New World, UGP, and I agree with you that it looks horrific.

7. we are supposed to forget about all that, see
It's black friday today....We gotta be good little shoppers and float the debt bubble the FEDS made by cooking the books to give themselves free perks on our backs a little longer..So the elites have more time to make a place to survive, steal more and hide their own away safe from the angry masses soon to be rounded up worked in slave camps and tortured by frustrated bullies when the party is over, and our civilization collapses in on itself and we pay $7.00 for a loaf of bread and beg for a "strong leader" to fix it..

Fuck.

11. It's so few
I agree.. But I still have to wonder *why* the other Dem's are refusing to STAND BY THEIR OWN who do speak out. Cowardice just isn't a valid excuse. You'd think if they really practiced what they preach they would stand with the outspoken Dem's in solidarity even if they are too chicken shit to speak out themselves..But no... The poll numbers are reflect the unpopularity of Bush yet they still refuse to unify around the few outspoken Dem's who are trying to SAVE their own party from republicans in Dem clothing like Zell Miller.. Why?

Why do you think this weird behavior out of Democrats is going on?
They get some guts say something, everyone cheers them on waiting for more, and they shrivel up.Time and again they shrink away from speaking truth to power beyond an outraged speech or a close vote where alot of Dem's rolled over to the bush admin...They refuse to act in any sustained fighting fashion.
Any ideas as to WHY?

18. For the people saying I was full of it...
I belive my freinds cousin's story. It may not be occuring THIS MINUTE but apparently bodies and remains did slow down the flood water removal.
Some news sites reported on it.And I remember reports saying and people here on DU reporting that flood water removal could take months. Here on DU someone was repeating the water may not be gone till December and I was shocked and I responded to that post back in september by asking if winter weather in New Orleans got cold enough to freeze water or not.Apparently it does not get cold enough for water to freeze in New Orleans.

Here are some reports of bodies clogging drains and it taking months to drain the city.Remember Katrina hit in September,it's only been about 3 months.

Day after day bodies turn up clogging up the water pumps draining the city. There is a growing suspicion among the government's critics that there is a deliberate policy not to give figures for fear of inflaming emotions.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2005/09/09/wkat09.xml&sSheet=/portal/2005/09/09/ixportal.html

Engineers said the mammoth job could take months and could be complicated by corpses clogging the pumps.

http://srv2.vanguardia.com.mx/hub.cfm/FuseAction.Detalle/Nota.482853/SecID.71/index.sal

And considering Bush gave a no bid contract for SCI to handle corpse removal, the same SCI of Funeralgate fame..I am not suprized at all the prospect of rampant disrespect of the bodies.

12. With stories like these....
it's best to wait for confirmation first. As someone who lives in the New Orleans area, rumors run rampant around here like you wouldn't believe. So far I've heard nothing about bodies clogging the pumps. Furthermore, New Orleans is dry and has been for awhile now.

I'm not saying that the cousin is lying ,but a message can get easily messed up when relayed second or third hand.

15. Simply NOT True!
This is an Urban Legend (Katrina) and has NO basis in fact.
I lived close to a New orleans Pumping Station for 40 years, and was in New Orleans helping with the salvage & rebuilding from Sept. 15th (2 weeks after) until Nov 15th. It is absolutely impossible for a human body to be sucked into one of these pumps. There are permanent gratings (screens) on the canal side (suction) side that prevent anything larger than a small cat from entering the pump mechanism.

This is a picture of the suction side of a New Orleans Pumping Station taken about 1 month after Katrina. Lake Pontchatrain is on the other side of this pump building. You can see a part of the Levee on the right side of this picture. I have labeled the placement of the intake screens. The Exposed Girder Superstructure above the screens on the right are automatic "Screen Cleaners" that rake off debris if the screens become clogged with debris during storms.

It IS possible (probable) that during the first few weeks a few bodies were caught in the gratings where they were removed during the normal process of keeping these gratings cleared of debris, but nothing like the description in the OP has occurred or is occurring.

The final sections of New Orleans were drained of Katrina Floodwater by Oct 15th. There are still bodies being found in the debris fields and collapsed houses. Bodies will continue to be found with lesser frequency as time passes.

20. Thank you
Misinformation is REALLY pissing me off! I was there Oct. 15th and I didn't see ANY flooded sections. Mind you, I didn't venture deep into the 9th Ward and other places where there was a lot of debris on the street for fear of a tire puncture... and one could still smell the rotting corpses, but that has largely subsided.

This doesn't negate the horror that remains to be found. A family was (I believe recently, but I am not sure) found around the block from me, murdered in their home. Gangs were going around at night listening for whomever had a generator, then would kill everyone in that house. :(

17. when 9/11 happened, they went to extraordinary lengths . . .
to recover and catalog every piece of human remains, no matter how small, and attempt to ultimately match them with DNA samples provided by the families of the victims . . .

the difference, of course, is that those who died on 9/11 were, by and large, affluent white folks . . . while those who died in New Orleans were, by and large, poor black folks . . .

and the difference in how they were handeled disgusts me to the very core of my being . . .

19. After 911
There was alot of stuff that went uninvestigated too

Like the twisted steel girders and bars hastily shipped to china.
To maybe make sure no one can prove without a doubt it was a demolition job that made the towers fall and not a plane?
Certain evidence was combed other evidence was scuttled away.
Very selectively. Some questions were never asked. So we never got the truth about 9/11.
Same thing will occur with New Orleans.

I don't tyrust the Bush admin and the bought off media to tell the truth about ANYTHING.

.. over 6,000 bodies have not been recovered, meaning that people have loved ones that have not been found yet.

This is horrible and unconscionable. Why aren't officials recovering the bodies?
