McD's giving away 'witch dolls' in happy meals
As a christian I have no problem with them doing this, any more than if there was a christian based movie and they sold biblical based toys.

How long till the RW starts protesting McD's?

2. Do you mean "Narnia" dolls?
If so, evangelicals should have absolutely no problem at all. Narnia author C.S. Lewis was an evangelical Christian who also authored Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters.

5. C, S, Lewis was not an evangelical.
He was an Anglican.

12. True, but he is currently celebrated by many evangelicals.
Though criticized by others, as well. Personally, as an atheist and a parent, I am less concerned about the Christian aspect of the books than I am about the sheer boredom that the series evokes.

I really think that every generation of children need a whole new set of fantasy stories delivered in modern settings with modern themes offered rather than forcing on them the tired doggeral of the past. Unless, of course, you are teaching children history through literature.

6. if evangelicals read c.s. lewis and his life
they would have nothing to do with him.

as the previous poster noted -- he was an anglican.

8. I suspect...
they are also giving away Lions and Wardrobes.

Narnia is a Christian cosmology story full of Christian themes. There are entire scholarly tomes analyzing the gospel-influenced story lines of Narnia.

It also happens to be a fun series of magical realism fiction books.

I doubt anyone on either side of the fence can justify getting--or will bother to get-- too bent out of shape about Narnia kids' meal toys.

I've been thinking of getting one for my 6 year old in hopes she'll leave my Dark Phoenix saga alone!

21. actually the witch cartoon
is about a group of teen superheroes saving the world from invasion from another dimension with their mystical powers and not about actual witches. the reason the cartoon is called witch is that is what their first initials spell.
