In 2000, I Told People That Bush Would Be An Incompetent President
I had heated debates with several people about this. For a person born with as many resources that Bush was born with to accomplish so very, very little in his life, I knew back then that he was an idiot.

Imagine what you could do or could have done with your life if you never had to worry about paying bills, a place to live, paying for college, or any other worry that most people have to deal with before they can start their careers or their lives.

In 2000, I learned that Bush never travelled to Europe. Think about that for a minute. He was the son of the VP of the U.S. for 8 years, son of the POTUS for 4 years. When his father was POTUS, the Berlin wall came down, and he never thought to hop on a plane and witness history, or at the very least travel with his father to see history?

That one simple fact showed me that he never really appreciated nor understood the advantages that life gave him. He is willfully ignorant, and this willfull ingorance would make him an incompetent president.

1. Out of desperation after the "election" in 2000, I e-mailed the
White House (silly, I know)and wrote that Bush and his lack of knowledge and understanding of other countries would endanger out national security. Although, I'm sure no one read it, I must say I turned out to be right, too.

6. Very insightful and true
For someone so endowed but yet so unaccomplished and worldly unenlightened speaks a lot to his indolent character. I made same observations to my acquaintances and found them unconvinced by my arguments; even some went as far as to question my liberal credibility - accusing me of prejudice and envy.

7. yeah, I thought the same thing . . . but I figured we survived Reagan . .
so we could probably survive four years of Bush . . . how wrong I was . . . little did I know how much damage he could do in such a short time, or that he could actually steal a second election in broad daylight, with no repercussions . . .

8. In Reagan's Defense (I Can't Believe That I'm Saying This)
Reagan came from humble roots, and he made something out of his life. He also had an understanding of national and international events. He was dead wrong about a lot of them, but at least he showed an interest in them.

I had never heard anything about Bush before he won his second term as Governor of TX. Nothing. No policy speech. No commentary on issues. Nothing.

Heck, I saw an old Bush I 1988 campaign ad. The one where he's around his family. W is no where in the ad. It's like he didn't even exist.

An apt comparison. She was cursed with the ability to foresee the future while being unable to alter it. DU in a nutshell.

14. I told people in 2001 that if there were a community
college somewhere near the whitehouse Bush should go take semester or two of public speaking.

I knew he was an ignorant, stuffed shirt figurehead (like Reagan) since before the primaries. I didn't know that he was a flat-out no bullshit EVIL ignorant, stuffed shirt figurehead.

I wonder if Vegas ever had odds on how successful his "pResidency" would be. Because if anyone bothered to take the time to look at his past record, the odds would be verrrry slim to none.

30. Yeah, He Was Astonishingly Inadequate From The Getgo; You're Point About
Him never having visited Europe before becoming Pres is spot on. It's inconceivable to me how so many in this country are so myopic (or worse) as to not realize that someone in his position, who never visited Europe in his life up to that point, could never be competent enough to lead the country, much less understand such things as foreign policy. It smacks of a lack of curiosity and intellectual laziness that is, quite frankly, bizarre.

32. regarding his "C" average at Yale-
I don't know if it's still the policy(officially, anyway), but at the time dumbya went to yale, legacy students(bush's father, grandfather, etc. went there) were able to appeal failing grades to a board of regents- who would generally convert the grade to a "C"...it's entirely possible that in truth dumbya had an "F" average at yale.

He looked at me and said: "They don't just give away Yale degrees."

My response: "Yeah, but I bet they sell them."

That shut him up. He hates Bush now BTW.

35. Absolutely ...
The evidence was overwhelming at the time ...

You had the whole reserves thing ... It was bad enough that he got a protective assignment ... Sad to say that many silver spooned politicians get that ... BUT, that he actually BAGGED on his commitment said A LOT about his lack of responsibility and character ...

The drinking ... And, as you noted, his history said that it was A LOT of drinking, with the drugging ... The stadium deal where he was given the sweetheart deal with the city screwing some other guy ... There just was a VERY clear pattern of him having people clean up messes for him ...

AND, for anyone with any common sense, you could see he was a snake oil salesman ... He just reeks of it ...

But, SOMEONE, the conservative machine conned the dulled masses into voting for a president based on the "he is a guy I would want to have a beer with" mentality ...

AND, I will add another I told you so ... The day after 9-11, I was having lunch with a buddy, and I told him that 9-11 would get this baffoon reelected ... All he had to do was not break down and cry, and everyone would just ignor the inadequacies and make him out to be the next Churchill ...
