learned yesterday that my neice will be going to Iraq . . .
in January . . . she graduated from West Point in May, having enrolled before 9/11 and all that followed . . . her degree is in civil engineering, and the Army originally had her slated for a couple of years of graduate work . . . but she recently received orders for Iraq, and now this whole thing with BuchCo has become intensely personal . . .

1. Prayers for your neice
that she comes back okay, though I would guess that even if she comes back healthy, she will comeback forever changed.

Here's hoping this madness will stop soon and she'll be brought home quickly.

Please, keep us up-to-date on how she's doing.

3. My thoughts are with you and your niece
But that is what she was trained for isn't it?

She'll be doing the work she was hired for, I hope she
enjoys her work (might as well enjoy it and learn more)
and returns safely to you and your family.

My Sister-inlaws father has been to Iraq a couple times now, his
men are responsible for maintaining aircraft. Sis was VERY glad
to have him finally return home.

Good luck!

4. Civil engineering in Iraq?
Heh!....not much of that going on.

Everyone is hiding in the Green Zone, scared shitless.
