Talking to an Iraq war vet yesterday

I was struck by how little he knew about the political side of this war.George is 23,newly married to my daughter's best friend and joined us for T-day dinner.When I told him about the republicans now wanting to get out of Iraq-he seemed clueless-a blank expression came over his face.What I learned is George and his comrades are focused on their"job"-and I guess staying alive and keeping their friends alive.OUR job as Michael Moore said the other day is to look out for the soldiers best interests.I won't go on and on but by paying attention and voicing our beliefs we do our job for THEM.

I could understand the focus on their job in Iraq, but there's downtime for them here.

23 year olds don't sit watching the same stuff we do-I know I didn't and would never think of watching C-Span at that age.So I'll watch for him and my kids and their spouses and friends and then report the truth as I know it to be as best I can without malice to the opposition.
