...I hope that reading these posts here at DU will make you start to question what you are doing. Take a minute - look at yourself and think about the cause you are supporting. Our country has been on the wrong track now for several years. A lot of people around the world are unnecessarily suffering and dying because of your cause. A lot of people in this country live their lives with a sense of despair because of your cause. A lot of people are seeing their futures and the future of freedom being destroyed because of your cause. It’s just plain wrong. And you know in your heart that we are right. We need you to admit to yourself that your cause is misguided. We need you to wake up and realize that things can’t continue this way. You are in a unique position. Please stop what you are doing and help us to fix it.

If you still can’t see the fundamental wisdom in the opinions being expressed here at DU, if you can’t see that what you’re doing is wrong, then admit that your party is going in the wrong direction and at least try to change it for the better. If you are a Christian, look in your bible and read what Jesus taught about helping your fellow man and about greed and corruption. Look at what Abe Lincoln did for his country and ask yourself if what you are doing will make America better or worse.

But don’t try to do it on the backs of the American people again. It’s un-Christian and it's un-American. And if you keep it up, you will not get in at the Pearly Gates. In fact you may be re-directed to the gates a few floors below!

I know that this is very likely a waste of breath but it makes me feel better to at least try. There are a few good people left in the Republican party who might eventually be able to see the light if we try and point the way often enough.

3. I see your point and agree that if they can't help to change

things for the right reason then they're really not getting the gist of the message. At this point in the game, progress may need to be measured in small increments. I'll take anything I can get that moves us in a better direction...one "still misguided" soul at a time if necessary.

2. In my line of work

Many people I work with are republican or very conservative democrats. Most are very nice people who believe what they are told by the media and their friends.

The basic republican party concepts are not being met by bush. Fiscal conservatives, states rights, etc have been offset by bigger government and unfunded mandates. Not including the war.
