Our turkey tonight was named "Scooter"
It's an informal tradition in my family to christen the Thanksgiving turkey with a name, usually of someone in the news who has been a real turkey.

This year, mine was named Scooter. Turns out my sister across the country also named hers Scooter, after almost naming it "T.O" (for Terrell Owens).

Anyone else do this? It's nice to have an affectionate name for the bird while it's roasting.

I think my brother named his "Jean Schmidt." I love my family...

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

1. Dang, I never thought about that. I'll have to keep that in mind for next
year, maybe I'll call mine George!

2. Hehe.. I had a hard enough time with my kid today
I don't need to be naming the turkey. When I got the bird out this morning he asked me "Dad, was that a young turkey? Cause I'd rather eat one that was old and ready to die anyway."

4. clearly, you have not seen "messages in water"== imagine the negative
energy you and your family took into you with the consumption of "scooter" and "schmidt"--pure poison!!

on the other hand, inscribing their names on black candles, and then burning the candle and tossing the remains in running water. . . . .

5. Mine was named Bush...
So I burnt it to a crisp, threw it outside, pissed on it and left it for the vermin to gnaw on.

8. Nice tradition. Had I heard of this a few hours ago I would have named
our turkey Bob Woodward. Supposed to be protecting our civil liberties not his bottom line with the book publisher...turkey.
