"He is a qualified, excellent candidate who wants to do it," Robert Asher, a Republican National committeeman, said. "He can raise the money and is already a popularly elected official."

In Pennsylvania, lieutenant governor candidates compete individually in a primary, then are paired with their party's gubernatorial candidate on one ticket for the general election.

3. There's legislation in the works to make Lt.Gov. appointed by Governor

There is a serious push within the state legislature of a bill which would change office of Lt. Gov. from an independently elected one, to an appointed one, allowing gubernatorial candidates to select their "running mates" as it were. Ed Rendell has not been particularly helped by Catherine Baker Knoll, the current elected Lt. Gov. and wants to be able to pick his own Lt. Gov. in the next election.

If this bill succeeds, Matthews brother's candidacy becomes moot, in the finest sense of that word.

Is mathews a repuke, a dem, or just an idiot? I dont see tweety as a bible bout looney. That said I wont watch hardball or any other talk shows when i got air america to listen too.

the logic of the OP, which implies that if one brother is a republican, then the other is suspect, then one could only conclude that Ron Reagan is not worth listening to weekdays on MSNBC. After all, his father was a republican.

An alternative might be that families often produce people with a wide variety of views and opinions.
