Report: Bush talked of bombing Al-Jazeera

Associated Press

LONDON - A civil servant has been charged under Britain's Official Secrets Act for allegedly leaking a government memo that a newspaper said Tuesday suggested that Prime Minister Tony Blair persuaded President Bush not to bomb the Arab satellite station Al-Jazeera.

The Daily Mirror reported that Bush spoke of targeting Al-Jazeera's headquarters in Doha, Qatar, when he met Blair at the White House on April 16, 2004. The Bush administration has regularly accused Al-Jazeera of being nothing more than a mouthpiece for anti-American sentiments.

The Daily Mirror attributed its information to unidentified sources. One source, said to be in the government, was quoted as saying that the alleged threat was "humorous, not serious," but the newspaper quoted another source as saying that "Bush was deadly serious, as was Blair."

Blair's office declined to comment on the report, stressing it never discusses leaked documents.

2. Maybe this will convince Al Queda to retaliate by attacking Fox News
Is Bill O'Reilly man enough to go on the air and say that Bush's plan to bomb Al-Jazeera is a good idea?

Will Rush Limbaugh say that bombing Al-Jazeera is a harmless fraternity prank?

I dare those guys to say, "Bring it on."

3. This Brings Up The Question - How Many Journalists Were Killed....
in Iraq since the inception of this war?

If * wanted to target Al-Jazeera - is it so hard to make the leap that these journalists were targets as well?

Imbedded press = propaganda

Press that calls it like they see it = DEAD!!!!!

5. "... stressing it never discusses leaked documents."
IOW, don't look here, look there.

bush has no sense of humor when it comes to threatening death; his sense of humor comes into play once death is a fait accompli. I'll never forget the report of him pumping his fist in the air as the bombs first started falling on Baghdad, as he exclaimed "Feels good!"

50 percent of Baghdad's population consists of children under the age of 15.

I don't doubt for a second that bush would want to bomb AJ. They are a thorn in his side. I've been to their web site many times and although I didn't dig deeply, I never saw anything overtly anti-American there. Just plain simple reporting. Just because they don't wave our flag and dance shouldn't make them a target for bush's sociopathic impulses.

6. Why doesn't Tony Blair just out with it already?
"How many documents do we have to leak before you wankers impeach this crazy man???"
