On Wednesday, November 30, 2005, the Hip Hop Caucus, Survivors of Hurricane Katrina, Rebuild Hope Now Coalition, UP (United Progressives) for Democracy, Members of Congress, African-American Clergy, and many more, will be carrying on the legacy of resistance to social injustice, and protesting the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) demanding it extend the December 1, 2005 deadline to stop paying hotel bills for many victims of Hurricane Katrina and come up with a proper plan for people to return home.

The Hip Hop Caucus is demanding that the U.S. government extend its Dec. 1 deadline to stop paying hotel bills for many victims of Hurricane Katrina and come up with a proper plan for people to return home. The eviction orders must be based on needs rather than on a government deadline.

It is becoming more obvious this current administration is more concerned with property than people. It would be disgraceful and disgusting to cut funding off for housing without a plan for people to go someplace, there must be a plan for them to return home.
First and foremost, these people are not refugees as continuously stated by FEMA, they are survivors, they are Americans, and we must be there for them in there time of need, for the Federal Emergency Management Agency to stop paying for hotels for many Katrina survivors is an outrage, especially without a sound plan in place.
This latest action by FEMA will leave thousands of displaced families homeless, and continues to make a disaster out of the disaster relief efforts.

So if by Tuesday, November 29, 2005, FEMA does not change it policy of property before people, and extend its Dec. 1 deadline to stop paying hotel bills for many victims of Hurricane Katrina and come up with a proper plan for people to return home, the people will be left with no choice but to protest and march on FEMA at it's Washington DC National Headquarters on Wednesday, November, 30th at 11am.
