1. I'm guessing they were listening to Lewis Black at the time.
He once said "We have the Republicans, a party of bad ideas, and the Democrats, a party of no ideas."

4. Its a rovian phrase, conjured up in an effort to compel
the Dems to come up with a workable solution to the incredible mess into which this administration has placed us. Good plan, they take credit, bad plan, it's our fault.

6. With the fact that the Democrats have had no ideas?
Prior to Harry Reid's closed senate session, and then Murtha's "redeploy" out of Iraq resolution - the Dems have not voiced many (any) ideas.

7. According to the public perception, Dems don't have any ideas
That's because our ideas either end up being accepted and ushered in as Republican ideas (Department of Homeland Security) or shouted down (I'd say the recent developments on the floor of the House prove this).

Democratic ideas never get discussed, because we always hear "that won't work, end of discussion".

Besides, what about the majority party? Why aren't they getting anything done? What are their ideas?

9. It's a presentation thing.
Typically, we don't come up with stupid ideas that would fit on a 3x5 card like "KICK SOME TOWELHEAD ASS". To some, listening to reasoned, articulate proposals is too much work, so they don't pay attention.

Also, in part, it's simply a lie -- I remember arguing with a repug elsewhere online about Kerry's supposed lack of ideas on a number of issues. He really believed this, because some talking head on Fox said it. I pointed him to the Kerry website where these ideas were spelled out in detail. (I won that little argument, though he never admitted it...)

8. First time I heard it was Newt Gingrich in 94. They focus grouped certain
charges and words to use against the Democrats. That was one that passed the Frank Luntz test.

10. I think it was from us...
...the many of us who were/are mystified by our Dem representatives' reluctance to stand up and argue? I live in NYC, and have a hard time with (for example) HRC's stances, and the practice of bringing nothing more to certain issues than acquiescence or reaction...where HAS been the contribution?

Haven't we been asking this ourselves??
