Kerry dropped the ball.
Kerry could have easily beaten the curve of election fraud if only he'd learned from the most successful and obvious model in modern times.
Clinton learned well from the Bush/Dukakas election -- that you don't let the impressions left by negative sound-bites linger in the ears of voters.
Clinton had a war room whose sole purpose was to give him a dialog on an hourly basis to debunk the elephant dung slung at him. It worked superbly.
Kerry made the perfect blunder (by Republican standards). He let the Republican crap to steep in the minds of voters way too long.
Although Kerry shouldn't have had to didn't have to reinvent the wheel to beat Diebold (and other political machines) he dropped the ball early on when he failed to address accusations in real-time.
Kerry got conservative and decided to buy most of his air time only after the smear-mongers' message had taken root. Now Kerry was forced to defend himself, while trying to get out a rightly complicated message for complicated times.
If Kerry wasn't wise enough to beat Bush the way Clinton beat his Dad, he's toast this time around.
