All Dems should join Kerry on "Swiftboating" -- this is a McCarthy moment
In fact, all decent Americans should join him. This destruction of heroes by cowards, financed by filthy rich cowards, must stop.

sandnsea's post, with Kerry's statement, which could have included the young skipper of a boat on missions designed to take enemy fire in the jungles of Vietnam, another victim of this evil:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x5392265

Kerry: “Instead of letting his cronies run their mouths, the President for once should stop his allies from doing to Jack Murtha what he set them loose to do to John McCain in South Carolina and Max Cleland in Georgia. The President should finally find the courage to debate the real issue instead of destroying anyone who speaks truth to power as they see it. It’s time for Americans to stand up, fight back, and make it clear it’s unacceptable to do this to any leader of any party anywhere in our country.”

Have these people NO decency? None?

2. I wish Kerry had this much fire in '04. He would be in the WH now.
Thank goodness he's speaking up against these bums.

3. Too little too late. Kerry should have spoken like this during 2004...
Edited on Fri Nov-18-05 12:20 PM by Beelzebud
If he had, perhaps people would refer to him as President Kerry at this time...

13. I've been shaking my head since Nov 2004.
Shaking my head that Kerry would not FIGHT.

Now, one year later, he's ready for the fight he should have started over a YEAR ago...

15. he is fighting the fight of today, today.,
Edited on Fri Nov-18-05 12:41 PM by seabeyond
he fought the fight a year ago, a year ago.

bullshit and not factually correct that he did not fight a year ago.

simple. this is a misstatement on your part to allow you to dismiss the man and the words then, and the words today.

on edit: and ignoring everything he has done for this last year

19. I agree with you, seabeyond.
It's not fair to judge from today's perspective what he did or didn't do a year ago. Plus we armchair quarterbacks always have it a lot easier.

32. He is my senator. I wish he had won. The SwiftLiars went unanswered
and that was what the election turned on. We were screaming to have his campaign people put them in their place. It hurt then to see the Liars get away with what they did. And now we all hurt.............

This bodes well for 2006 and hopefully 2008. We are the opposition party and be proud of it.

17. You know....I'm still stinging about it, too.
I'm still hurting over Kerry not fighting back, both during the campaign and with such a quick concession.

That said, I watched last night's appearances on Harball and Wolfie. It was kind of funny how both of them had pretty much the same questions, and the responses were the same almost word for word. But one of the things he made clear is that he learned from it. Maybe I'm projecting my own hope that the lesson was one of agressively fighting back. Hope so.

As first choice for President, it's too soon to tell. But, I'm not ready to dismiss Kerry on his support--we need all we can get.

Leave Murtha to swing because it's Kerry defending him.

Is that it?

5. to make the term swiftboating
synonymous with character assassination and smear campaigns is a great move. I think it will help get people focused on other dirty election tactics and hopefully even election fraud.

If it's coming from the likes of you and me, not so much.

10. Yes -- the filthy rich Texans who financed the Swiftboaters...
are emblematic of all the evil the Bush/Rove cabal has brought to this country, including campaigns, and elections, outside the bounds of acceptable politics in America.

The media is already on notice for their complicity; they cannot ignore, they can only spin, and even that will catch up to them.

23. "Swiftboating": What a badge of infamy to wear -
- to have a new term of disparagement describing the concoction of a shameless slur, coined to your dishonor, for all time.

22. The GOP: no decency, no honor, no integrity..no pride.
And with regard to Kerry criticism, a leader can't lead until he has a viable following. I think Katrina cleared the eyes of the numbers he needed. The media is picking up on that as well. There has been a lot less of the following of Republican talking points when they report. It's coming together.

24. All Dems should say Murtha gave us a policy we all support.
Not merely say he is a good guy who should not be defamed.

I don't think kerry and others are saying that yet. See more...

30. No these people have NO DECENCY
no morals, no heart and no concerns for their fellow man or their planet. These people want to win at all costs and don't care who they tear down in the process.

So this is the Shit my Son is in Iraq fighting for? So they can spin their web of deceit and call it truth. How dare they treat a veteran this way. I know it would certainly piss me off if someone called my Son's honor into question right now.
