The horrible House omnibus budget bill JUST PASSED - read about it in LBN:
in this thread:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x1933081
thread title (11/18 LBN): House passes Sweeping Budget Cut Bill (in wee hours after initial defeat)

In addition to the cuts for the people who can least afford them, it still has the Pombo amendment as far as I know - a major, mega disaster in the making - and some GOP Reps are saying they won't vote for the final House/Senate bill unless the ANWR drilling is put back in.

I urge you to read about the catastrophic, over-the-top Pombo amendment to the House omnibus budget bill in this thread:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x5372231
thread title (11/16 GD): PUBLIC LAND GRAB ALERT! LATimes:millions of acres at stake in House bill

The Senate version of the budget bill does not have the Pombo language, which was slipped in at the last minute without a public hearing. IT MUST BE KEPT OUT OF THE FINAL COMBINED BUDGET BILL. So far, it's been almost entirely under the radar - and it is a horror.

2. This is the issue the democrats MUST keep hitting
the repukes did this in the wee hours of the morning thinking no one would realize what was done

O.K. dems you want the house back, starting hitting the repukes for what they are, taking from the most needy in our society, and giving it to the less needy

3. The most needy being targetted while the wealthy get more and more
tax cuts and even the windfall profits tax to the big fatcat oil companies has been defeated;
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x1933018
thread title (11/18 LBN): Senators reject proposal to tax oil industry's windfall profits

And I URGE YOU TO READ ABOUT REP. POMBO's CATASTROPHIC PUBLIC LAND GIVEAWAY, slipped into the budget bill like a poison pill:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x5372231
thread title (11/16 GD): PUBLIC LAND GRAB ALERT! LATimes:millions of acres at stake in House bill

We must FIGHT! Some of the GOPs said they would not vote for a final budget bill unless the ANWR drilling was added back too.

10. like thieves in the night....
these reichwing pukes are too chickenshit
to pass legislation in the light of day.. for all to see.
They need to sneak it by in darkness and secrecy.

Anyone who fears the public so much....
is already failing...
and as for these pukes
they have certainly failed the American people

And they will fall from power
Very soon.

4. Propaganda wise, this will help us for 2006
Then we can roll back these unfair cuts. Its time for the people on our side to saturate the media about the effects of the 2001 Bush Tax Cut to the wealthiest 1%, and the focus on the estate tax and other boons for the rich.

Rich people got their $$$ and now the poor have to pay for it. I hope the Dems have the guts to engage in the class warfare that IS needed. The Repukes have done quite well in making the phrase "class warfare" a dirty word so its time for us to set the record straight. How much do the people have to take before they wake up?

Disgusting

6. you are absolutely right
This is a MAJOR campaign issue for Congress

I can see the TV ads now, NOT taxing oil companies, but cutting student loans, medicade, and help for farmers

This should NOT go over well in middle America.

This time they cannot hide their record of what they are doing

5. ***Be sure to come to the MAIN THREAD on this in the LBN Forum***
So far, it hasn't gotten much attention and it needs to be SEEN and ACTED ON!

The main thread;
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x1933081
thread title (11/18 LBN): House passes Sweeping Budget Cut Bill (in wee hours after initial defeat)

and again, the thread about the terrible Pombo amendment to the House omnibus budget bill:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x5372231
thread title (11/16 GD): PUBLIC LAND GRAB ALERT! LATimes:millions of acres at stake in House bill

7. Related thread: "HOUSE votes to end public land"
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x5390348
thread title (11/18 GD): HOUSE votes to end public land

This appears to be a garbled way of mentioning the Pombo rider in the just-passed House Bill, which basiclally would give away as much as a quarter-BILLION acres of OUR public lands to developers and oil/mineral corporations to do with as they pleased, including selling for strip malls and condos.

8. kick - I just added a big Washington Post article to the main thread
The main thread is here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x1933081
thread title (11/18 LBN): House passes Sweeping Budget Cut Bill (in wee hours after initial defeat)
The new Washington Post article is excerpted and linked to in Reply # 37.

The thread on the infamous and almost entirely ignored but drastically horrible Pombo rider in the budget bill is here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x5372231
thread title (11/16 GD): PUBLIC LAND GRAB ALERT! LATimes:millions of acres at stake in House bill

The new Washington Post article on the passed House budget bill does not mention the Pombo land giveaway at all, though the ANWR drilling is mentioned. The Pombo move is actually much farther-reaching - but except for the LA Times, the major papers have been mostly silent about it so far. That has got to change.

9. I have to leave my computer until mid-afteroon - if people want to
keep this headsup post visible, that would be great. Again, the main thread on the passed House Budget bill is in LBN here:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x1933081
thread title (11/18 LBN): House passes Sweeping Budget Cut Bill (in wee hours after initial defeat)

And don't forget the Pombo rider in the just-passed House version of the budget; it's not getting NEAR the attention that is needed to prevent this outrage from destroying our national legacy of public lands:

13. And the RW's war on the poor and middle class continues apace
The only good thing that will come from this is that perhaps this will hit enough brain dead sheeple in the pocket book hard enough for them to wake the fuck up and realize that they're being fleeced. We should hang this around the neck of the Republican party next fall in order that they cannot hide from their shame at passing this inhumane, unAmerican POS budget.

I feel fortunate that I have enough assets that I will be able to ride this out, and even offer a modicum of help to those less fortunate. But I fear for the future, with three more years of this misadministration able to wreak havoc at will. I, and those in my income bracket are gong to be targeted next, all in the name of making the wealthy even wealthier.
