Proud to Be a Democrat Again? Proud of Our Team? I Thank Chairman Dean!
Edited on Thu Nov-17-05 11:01 PM by David Zephyr

For four long years I watched the two bullies, Richard Cheney and George Bush, intimidate not just those within their own party, but sadly far too many within my party, the Democratic Party. But our Party is back! The American people are responding favorably to the new spunk, the new spine our Democrats are showing. Even Greens are raising their eyebrows with a little respect? What happened?

Well, I think a lot of credit has to go, yes, it must go to the great chairman that we chose to lead our battered party back to victory. I am thanking the former Governor of Vermont tonight because I know that he has been working his heart out on our behalf and I think it's time that Dr. Howard Dean gets a little appreciation and acknowledgment for some of the good things that are beginning to happen. I am so damned proud to know that this great guy is in charge of our national party. I hope you are, too.

I'm not saying that he deserves all the credit. He wouldn't accept it anyway. But, can it all be just a coincidence that our guys and gals are punching back and punching hard? Is it all just an accident that Bush is tanking toward the low '20's in national approval? Is it just a freak episode of luck for us that a majority of the American people --- who were so in favor of the very war that Howard Dean opposed --- have now come to see that it "was a mistake" and that we "are not safer with Saddam Hussein captured" and that "we were lied to"? I love this man and hope that those who doubted his ability to lead will now give him a little more respect. OK?

I giving a Howard Dean yell from CALIFORNIA where we whipped Arnold's ugly ass and publicly humiliated him to all the great Democrats in NEW JERSEY who kicked some righteous ass early this month there! I am letting out a Howard Dean howl to the ferocious Democrats in VIRGINIA who rebuked a sitting President the first week in November! I'm going to give a Howard Dean hollering to NEVADA the home of this tiger named Harry Reid and to OHIO where Paul Hackett started making the impossible look possible to a lot of us. I am giving a Howard Dean scream to DEMOCRATS and PROGRESSIVES in all 50 states who like being "in the Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party" again! It feels great, doesn't it?

Are we better or worse for Chairman Dean's leadership this last year? Well, I think the results are in.

Thank you Dr. Dean! You made me proud of my party again and I can't tell you how much it means to this old guy!

Will you join me in giving Dr. Dean a long overdue toast? Here's to our national chairman! Thank you Dr. Dean!

building Grassroots. When one sees an interview with him he's a "breath of fresh air" because he doesn't give that "Inside the Beltway Speak" that we see from Biden and the rest.

He's a great start at getting the Dems to focus outside the Beltway/DC/Thinktank/Lobbist/Globalist/Corporatist mind set and get back to REALLY doing "The Peoples' Business." Unlike the idiot Chimp who goes around pretending to do the business of the people. HIS (Chimp's) PEOPLE are those who "get the business" and whom he works for...not US!

He was great on Russert ....and even Russert couldn't find a way to dig into him. We have to hope that he can stay there...given the DLC jackals nipping all around him these days.

22. He Sure Does Not!
He's not an "Inside Beltway" kind of guy and people of all walks-of-life know it. He's certainly a "breathe of fresh air" amid the puke.

Time to send more money! Where's that link?

8. I have always been proud to be a Democrat
And I still am, in spite of Dean. He has zero effect on how I feel as a Democrat.

Not liking Dean and supporting the Democratic party are not opposing values, to paraphrase President Clinton. :-)

21. Sorry Zomby, but your DLC'ers are going down.
They, including the Clinton's, have been on the wrong side--one of political expediency-- all along, while Dean has been on the side of truth and justice.
HOWARD SPEAKS FOR ME ! ( I have been an active Dem since age 15, when I walked door to door for J. F. Kennedy)
I dare say that the Good Doctor has given the party that jump start it has sorely needed since it was high-jacked by the centrist-stand-for-nothing- go- a-long-to-get-along'ers. They have fought him every step of the way, and still he is succeeding.

I love the likes of Dean, Boxer, and members the Con. Black Caucus!!

They have the guts to stand tall and have the conviction that Hill and the other DLC'ers don't.

13. And Congressman John
Murtha recommended Dean for the Chairmanship back in Jan 2005!

snip~
"Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) is actively lobbying Democratic National Committee (DNC) delegates to select former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean as their next chairman.
The endorsement of the leading antiwar presidential candidate by one of the Democrats’ most prominent early supporters of the Iraq invasion signals a rehabilitation of Dean’s image in the House and greatly increases his prospects of leading the party, many Democratic lawmakers and aides said.

Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) is writing letters in support of Howard Dean.

Several lawmakers said support by the hardscrabble, old-school Vietnam veteran, who endorsed former Rep. Dick Gephardt (D-Mo.) in the presidential primaries, would compel the DNC to take a second look at the firebrand governor and not simply write him off as an extreme avatar of the party’s antiwar wing.

At Dean’s request, Murtha wrote to Pennsylvania’s seven delegates to the DNC last week explaining why he is endorsing a candidate with whom he shares so few positions.

“I am not with him on all the issues, but he understands the party’s problems, what we need to do and how to get there,” said Murtha. “And he has executive experience. … A lot of people in the party don’t understand just where we are. We need a change. We need something different.”

One senior lawmaker, who asked not to be named in order to speak more candidly about internal party matters, said his colleagues would be shocked to hear of Murtha’s support for Dean. The lawmaker added, “Maybe we’ll all have to take a second look. A lot of us will.”

19. Howard is far to the right of my politics, but he's not afraid to tell
the truth about what he believes, and he's a centrist populist (one of the few) which is as effective as it is refreshing in this land of bland namby pamby centrist wanna be's. He might be a little Trumenesque in that way.

Howard's genius is in his truthfulness and his ability to cut an issue in a simple, honest and effective way. He's very good at making an argument that most people can agree with, kind of what Wellstone would have called making kitchen table issues of both domestic and foriegn policy issues.

When Howard says we need to communicate to joe six pack why the heck he should be voting in his own economic and social best interests, he's right.

When Howard says the Democratic Party needs to develop a grassroots fund raising mechanism to potentially rival or replace a corporate fund raising mechanism he's right, and when Howard says we need to challenge the right wing's presumptions of moral and political authority, he's right.

At the helm of the DNC we could have done so far worse than Howard and usually we have in the last 25 years. Howard is energetic and energizing, he's everywhere all the the time making sense.....

Howard is the most dynamic DNC chair in a long time. He's making a lot of positive change in a formerly and too often dazed and confused (or is that shocked and awed?) party.

He scares the Repos big time.

He's a man with a plan, and it's a pretty good one.

I am very proud of Dean. I am not surprised at all by the great job he's doing. We miss him as our Governor, now we are stuck with a wimpy repug, but am glad he's out there fighting for our country.

Love you Dean! Keep it up!
