Oh Lord, here's another one--"Elderly Man Arrested for Drug Trafficking"
Edited on Thu Nov-17-05 07:56 PM by ohio_liberal
This is a local story that just hit the news. I can't believe how many articles I'm seeing about older folks selling drugs to pay medical bills:

BELLAIRE, OH -- A local elderly resident is arrested and accused of trafficking prescription drugs. The man told police he did it to help pay for his wife's medical bills.

Bellaire resident Gary Castricone, 65, went before a judge Thursday morning. He is charged with drug trafficking after his arrest Thursday (this must be a typo--emphasis mine) night.

Officers in Bellaire say they worked with Shadyside Police to make a controlled buy in the parking lot of the Imperial Plaza. According to Lt. Mike Kovalyk, officers spent $350 on 70 pills of Percocet that they bought from Castricone.

Police say Castricone got the pills from the Veteran's Association, and they say the man claims he needed the money to pay for his wife's multiple sclerosis medical bills.

However, police say that's no excuse to sell drugs.

6. Defence of a third party is a solid legal argument
Betcha the DA works furiously to omit all reference to his dying wife. That's how they work.

Any DA's on the board? Be honest, it's not about justice, it's about prosecutorial glory, and career building.
