OMG - ABC News 1st 9 minutes - Murtha's first-person relaying of all
Edited on Thu Nov-17-05 06:44 PM by Pirate Smile
the injured soldiers he has seen; corruption in Iraq rebuilding; FEMA out of flood insurance $$$ so won't pay anymore claims to outraged gulf coast residents who always paid their premiums, etc.

Disgusting - the Bush Administration in action.

As Chuck Grassley said, they aren't governing, that is why they are in trouble.

Have you no sympathy for the Chinese?

7. I had already knew about all this but it was still jaw dropping in its
illustration of just how broken our government currently is because of the GOP's running of it.

28. Let's close the borders to Bush. I can really get behind that kind of ...
immigration control.

This truly is a special day, kids.
Between Murtha and another GI opposing the war it is a very good day.

5. Corruption of the highest order.
I'm old, and I've seen a lot of administrations in my lifetime, but this one is the worst.

This Congress is not much better!

16. Well, they go together. This Administration couldn't be so terrible
if they had to actually worry about Congressional oversight.

The GOP running Congress is a big reason why things have gotten so bad.

Their loyalty to party has rendered Congress impotent. It's disgusting.

24. Poll ratings? How about stopping at nothing to stay in power?
In statistics it might be called "deviation to the norm." We have had a long run as a nation, longer than most. We have been relatively immune, with the noted exception of our civil war, to overt power grabs, coups d'etat and other disruptive things that powerful greedy men do with armies. I periodically get very paranoid about this bunch and their ilk.

Edited on Thu Nov-17-05 08:31 PM by JNelson6563
but it won't be terra here at home. One of their twisted justifications for "staying the course" in Iraq is "we're fighting them over there so we aren't fighting them here". we get attacked here and have very limited troops to deploy it highlights how the Iraq debacle is draining our resources and ability to defend ourselves if needed.

Just my .0125

8. Awesome...and NBC News had John Yoo on as the pro-torture
proponent in a dual segment. Can't remember the anti-torture person. Some former military.

Yoo looked like some asian version of Rush.

22. Doesn't it frost your ass to know that these aren't new revelations?
That information has been ignored, suppressed, and ridiculed by the administration, a big chunk of Congress, and the media?

I'm glad it's finally coming into the mainstream, but HELL it's been a long wait.

19. Here is the quote:
Quote of the Day

"A lot of people want to say Republicans are having problems because of stands we take on specific issues. I've seen polls where that's not the reason. The reason is we're not governing."

-- Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA), quoted by the Sioux City Journal.

Another quote I like:

Bonus Quote of the Day

"Because a lot of the farmers are prejudiced against New Yorkers, Hillary hauls me along as the token redneck, and I milk the cows and stuff."

-- President Bill Clinton, quoted by the New York Post.

18. I just saw the tail end of
the replay of Murtha's press conference on c-span and he is riveting!

He knows what he's talking about and has such passion that he is spellbinding.

Glad I called his office today and asked the woman to thank John Murtha for me for calling for Immediate Troop Withdrawal from Iraq.

I know bush and his puppeteers are going into anaphylactic shock over this because it doesn't jive with their plans for Middle East dominance and the ever elusive Iraqi Oil.

27. That was the part ABC played - they had his citing of all the injuries,
etc. from that part of his press conference and they showed photo's of injured soldiers, purple hearts, etc. to go along with what he was saying.

I was surprised but glad that that was what they focused on - the impact on the soldiers and their families.

29. Yes, I'm was heartened
that John Murtha talked about real soldiers and their devastating wounds that they just aren't going to walk away from but will take years of healing.

Murtha is bringing the torture issue to light, too..I caught that part. And he has asked no one to co-sponser this bill with him..so it wouldn't get leaked.
